DH's uncle called my baby chunky! (PIP)

I could not believe it. We saw him over the weekend at an outdoor festival. He looks at Hayden and says "boy he sure is chunky". He is 8 lbs!! and 5 weeks old. I don't know about you but that does not sound "chunky" to me. It just really irritated me. Now this is a picture of me and DS from Saturday (the day of the comment). Does he look chunky to you?

chunky i don't know about...adorable? yes ?

at about 6 months people started saying that about my boys ALL the time..i always said "well, i take it as a compliment, because they were 3 lbs when they were born!" or "i must be doing my job then"

i think your little man is a perfect size!?

I'm with yankee...I take "chunky" as a compliment. I have weight issues with Hannah so if someone calls her or her sister chunky then I know I'm doing something right:)

I think if a baby has big cheeks (which are to DIE for, if you ask me!), people will call him chunky. Cal has gotten that description, plus many similar ones, for months. But people mean it in a positive way - it's almost always accompanied but how cute he is, or how they "love chubby babies." So, please try not to feel offended!

First off, I always take chunky as a compliment when talking about my baby!

Second I'm sure at 5w he looks chunky to your uncle compared to a 1 day old! They fill out so much!

Thanks ladies! DH's relatives just tend to be such negative people. He was also comparing him to DH's cousins baby who is about 3 weeks older than DS. I know that he is healthy and happy and that is the most important thing. Plus since he was small when he was born, I know that he is growing well. I will try to just ignore him in the future.

I love to hear ppl call DD chunky!! In fact, we call her our chunky monkey!!

He looks perfect to me! But in your uncle's deffense I think chunky babies are cute and that being chunky as a baby is a GOOD thing. My baby is chunky and has chunky monkey thighs and everything. I LOVE it!

Ditto this. Elizabeth has had issues gaining weight. INow that she's filling out some, I can't wait for the day that someone calls her chunky! Smile So far, everyone just comments on how skinny she is. People like round babies!

He's got chubby baby cheeks, which I think are absolutely adorable! I bet he didn't mean it as an insult. I personally love chubbier babies and probably call other peoples' kids chunky sometimes. But I honestly mean it as a compliment!
