Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Formula Feeders pls come in...

I am currently breastfeeding but am thinking about weaning her off for many personal reasons...

If you formula feed could you please recommend your formula brand and kind and how much and how often you are feeding?

Do you feed on demand for a formula baby like you do a bfing baby?  Or is it more scheduled?

Thanks in advance!!! :)

Re: Formula Feeders pls come in...

  • We use theTarget brand of Gentle Ease. It is $14 for a 25.9 oz can. The actual Enfamil Gentlease is about $25 a can.

We feed on demand but she is on a pretty normal schedule. She usually starts SCREAMING every 3-3.5 hours.

She is 10 weeks and eating 4 oz. She has been eating 4 oz since the day we came home from the hospital at about 2 days old. SHes a piggy!

  • We use Similac, and we feed her on demand. She set her own schedule (about every 3-4 hours) and right now she eats 6 oz. each time.
  • We started with Isomil bc TJ needs soy.  We just switched to Good Start Soy.  He eats 3-5 oz every 3-4 hours.  Right now we are still feeding on demand..if he seems hungry we feed him.  He never spits up so I'm guessing he needs it!  He seems to tolerate the Good Start better than Isomil.

  • I use a generic brand from my local grocery store so I don't think that will help.  But we used Enfamil until a few weeks ago and DS did great on it.  But it may take a while to find a formual that works for your lo.

We feed on demand and he is still eating about every two hours.  I only bf for a month but when we switched to formula I seem to remember his eating schedule being very similar.  The difference I noticed was that a bottle took him like 15-20 minutes to eat and when he nursed it was for 40 minutes.

  • we are having a hard time finding a formula that DD will eat.
She is very picky right now we are feeding her Good start.
The soy formula was to hard on her tummy and she couldn't poop....

I think its trial and error w/formula.

and she eats every 3 to 3.5 hours

  • Let me try that again, we feed DD Enfamil with lipils. Generics of the brands are fine. My only issue is the configuration. We tried Sams club version, but it was  a bit more oily and my DD didnt' like it. We feed on demand or if my DD just looks hungry. She has a tendancy to gulp if we wait untils she's screaming hungry.
  • Lily is 12 weeks and she eats about 7 ounces every 5-6 hours or so.

She was on Enfamil AR but we switched her to the Enfamil ProSoBe this weekend.  We only use RTF.  She doesn't care for the powder.

  • We use Enfamil with Lipil but I think we are going to switch to Gentlease.  He's getting pretty gassy the more formula he takes in.  We feed on demand with is usually every 2-3 hours.

  • DD eats Similac isomil Soy. It was what the pedi recommended. It does make her constipated sometimes though. But from what i have found most formula does. Shes 8 wks and eats 5-6oz every 4-4.5 hours. This is kind of the schedule she has created over time.
  • We just started using the BRU brand (milk based) it's $12.99, and it contains the same stuff as Enfamil and Similac.

So far we've fed it to DS 4 times and he's responded well to it. We're still bf'g as well, so we're just switching inbetween feedings.

I hope it continues to mix well. =)

Oh and he eats about every 2.5-3 hours.

  • We feed ds good start gentle plus and it has been great for him!! He wakes up to eat om his own every 3-4hrs about 3.5-5oz ...my lo isn't very fussy at all except when hungry so we just feed him when he wakes and don't force him to eat the whole bottle bc he will eat til he's full HTH
