Babies on the Brain

Do cramps mean no baby?

Hello. This is my first post. We have been trying to conceive the past month. My period is expected Sunday and i am feeling cramps today. Did any of you preggo girls have cramps and still end up pregnant?

  • How do you know for sure that your period is "expected" on Sunday? Do you temp/chart at all? Do you know what Google is? Do you know anything about how the female body or reproduction works?

You make my head hurt for so many reasons. Though your post gave me a good laugh so thanks for that I guess.
  • No.

    +1

    Prego gives me heartburn.

Don't delete this post or "they" will find you.

    GL!  :)
  • This is a board that requires a little education in order to ask questions.

  • Actually they did answer your questions.  It just wasn't an answer you liked.

  • It's okay, my friends like prego too :)

That's why I'm making it for dinner & having them all over!
  • Cramps don't mean anything one way or another.  Many women experience cramps in advance of and during their period.  Likewise, many women experience cramping from the time of implantation onwards (6-10 days past ovulation).  Most women will cramp in pregnancy as the uterus begins stretching to accomodate the growing baby.

You won't know whether or not cramps are related to pregnancy or a period until you either get a positive home pregnancy test or your period.

I have a few tips for you:

    1. It is always a good idea to lurk before posting.
    2. Using proper grammar/spelling/capitalization/punctuation will take you far in life.
    3. It is not wise to question BOTB's validity/motives. It will e-throat punch you.

  • I know my period is expected sunday because i get my period every 28 days. duh
  • Let me guess -- you got you period every 28 days when you were on bcp previously?

    You don't say!!

  • I know my period is expected sunday because i get my period every 28 days. duh

Oh burn! Seriously, how old are you? Though I suppose it would be fitting that you would have "perfect" cycles. I'm sure you'll be KTFU by tomorrow.
  • 26. Sorry my ? has caused all of this. I was just curious if anyone else had experienced cramps and then ended up pregnant. excuse me.
  • But were you referring to a 28-day cycle on birth control?  Just curious :)
  • Is it that fuucking difficult to type out the word "question" and capitalize your sentences? You could have saved yourself "all of this" if you just googled it.
  • The thing is - even if you normally get your period every X number of days - it has no bearing on your current cycle.

For example, from my own ttc cycles:

Cycle -1: Anovulatory, started bleeding on cd 25, which was 7-14 days 'early' for me.

Cycle 1: Ovulated on cd 22, lp of 12 days = 34 day cycle.
Cycle 2: Ovulated on cd 22, lp of 11 days = 33 day cycle (1 day early)
Cycle 3 (ongoing): have not ovulated as of cd 23 = no less than a 35 day cycle.

See - there are lots of factors that influence cycles.  When you ovulate, how long your lp is, whether or not you are affected by medical conditions or stress.

  • No, I used to be on birth control but have been off since January. So....i get my period one day and 28 days later  i get it again and so on and so on. Why is this so surprising? I thought many woman have consistent periods. 28, 29 and 30 days apart?

  • My periods are consistently 35-55 days apart.  Doesn't that happen to everyone?

  • Krista I strongly advise you to lurk here for a while and figure out somethings. And get a book. If you are TTC you should really learn about what to expect.
  • Proof that taking Health class in high school is a waste.  If you want to learn more about your body pick up a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility.  You will thank me, really.

Cramps can mean anything from pregnant, your period, dehydration or a big fart.  So yes, some PREGNANT (not preggo) women have had cramps.

  • The shortest cycle I've had this year was 36 days, and as you can see from my chart I'm on day 52 of my current cycle. A lot of women actually don't have "normal" or "regular" cycles. It would do you good to get a little more educated about your body.
  • This is funny as a new nestie : )
  • Yes.  Like pps said, many PMS symptoms mirror pg symptoms.  Hence the need to POAS to tell.  GL to you!!
