The past two nights I have slept like crap because the anxiety of becoming a mommy has totally set it. And its not even anxiety related to whether or not the adoption will happen but things like crib bumpers and formula. How do I know when to take the crib bumpers out and when/if to put them back? How can I transition from one formula to another? Will I know how to dress her so that she's comfortable? And on and on and on....
How do I get the anxiety to calm down or will it ever? Help me stop the madness!

"Cast all your anxieties on Him, for He cares for you" 1 Peter 5:7
It's normal to have a lot of anxiety about becoming a mommy! You will do a great job, and you'll have your pediatrican, family and friends (including those here) to help! Have you tried reading some books to get ideas about things like bumpers and whether to use them? (we use a breathable bumper). A lot of things are sort of trial and error-- you will dress her and she will fuss if she's hot or cold and you'll start to learn what is right for her to wear. You might try one formula and discover she doesn't like it and then choose another with your pediatrician's guidance. You will take it day by day and learn a lot as you go! It helped me a lot just to focus on "what works now" with my baby, rather than trying to worry how everything was going to go for the weeks/months ahead. (ie. I'd wonder-- if I let him sleep in my arms today, will he never learn to sleep in his crib? And then I'd decide that he hadn't napped in several hours, needed the sleep today, and I loved holding him, so I'd let him sleep.)
My response is sort of all over the place, huh? But my main point is that anxiety is normal, and while you will always have anxieties being a mommy, it will lessen as you start to get the hang of it.
I think as a mom you will always have some anxiety about something. As mothers we worry. I know that God says not to worry and in every thing be in prayer.
I try to give it all to Him, he is in control and will be able to help the most.
As first time moms, we don't know it all. You will get help on here, from your doctor, and from family. Bumpers we took out when they started scooting around. Put them back in when they started sticking out limbs and then rolling over(OUCH). Formula transition you go by what your dr reccomends. You will know how to dress her. Dress like you dress. If you want a t-shirt and pants on then do the same for the baby.
You will be a WONDERFUL mommy. Your soon to be child(ren) will be so lucky to have you. God hand picked you for them. Nothing beats that.

from one anxious person to another... i was and still am way impressed with myself. i still find things to be anxious about constantly, but once i actually became a mommy, i didn't worry as much as before. which is usually how my anxiety works. i make a way bigger issue of everything and when it happens, it's never as hard or as bad as my mind thought it was going to be.
some will come naturally, some info will come from your pedi. some from family and friends. i receive those weekly newsletters from sites like babycenter.com that are great to keep you on your toes about what is going on with baby now and anything you need to prepare for in the next week or weeks. seriously though, my pedi helps with alot of questions from whether to feed solids before or after a bottle to how we should introduce them to the swimming pool.
i can't wait to read your news when your baby is in your arms!
