When do they take blood again?

I had the standard 1/2 dozen or so vials of blood taken at the very beginning, but that's it so far. I know they'll draw blood as part of the glucose test, but I was wondering if they take it again for anything else? I'm somewhat surprised that they are taking it to watch my iron since I was found to be anemic with the first round of tests, but other than advising me to take an iron supplement, nothing.

Anyone know?

I gave 3 vials at 8 weeks, 1 vial at 12 for an NT test, 1 vial for the AFP test, and 1 vial for the Glucose test. So far, my dr has not mentioned anything further about more blood draws. I am sure if they suspect a medical complication down the road (I'm anemic) then they might take blood, but we might be in the clear from here on out. I think....

I was supposed to get blood taken today but had to reschedule my dr appt due to the dr being in delivery all morning. So...I'm guessing around 26-27 weeks?

I think they just draw it as needed, like if something comes up. I believe my CNM said that I'll have some "standard" blood draws to check for blood sugar down the road but that was the only standard test I recall being mentioned.

However, because I have thyroid issues and Factor V Leiden mutation, and an overprotective CNM, I just get to be bled dry from time to time. Consider yourself lucky! Smile

I had some bloodwork done at the beginning of pregnancy and then again at 20 weeks. The 20 weeks was my genetic testing and stuff. Also, blood was taken when I did my glucose test. So a total of 3 times so far for me.

I had 3 vials taken at the first appt at 5 weeks and then a finger-prick for the NT test and 1 vial taken last time for the AFP test. I guess my next one will be for the GD test, but after that I hope to not have to do it anymore.

I have blood taken again at 24 weeks. My 20 week has been the only appt I haven't had blood work.?

I had a bunch of bloodwork at 4 weeks (to check bloodtype, RH factor, Rubella antibodies, etc.). I had more done at the NT scan at 12 weeks and the second draw at 16 weeks. All results were really good so I don't anticpate much more in terms of bloodwork, although I will see my OB for the first time at 20 weeks and he may want to order some. My little veins HATE needles, so the fewer blooddraws, the better for me!
