They actually do a pretty good job with some of the clothes. I went with my sister when she brought in about 3 bags of my nieces brand name clothes and they only took about half a bag full. They will only take items that have absolutely no staining on them.
With that being said, I would buy clothes (and probably wash them 20 times) and maybe my glider there. I have this thing about putting my baby in used items that they will probably end up putting thier mouth on. Call me crazy

We have one that recently opened in my town. I stopped by the other day and I don't think I will be buying anything there. I was completely disappointed. It looked like a yard sale/not very professional. And it stunk to high heaven. They had a brand new puppy running around and I suspect is has peed all over the store because it stunk so bad in there. That is so unprofessional.
Plus the prices were high to me. They had a vibrating chair for $30. To me that seems steep when it has been used for probably over a year. You could probably find one of those at a yard sale for less.

We purchased a few sleepers there... a couple of them were brand-new and I checked the used ones very carefully for stains, etc. You can score some good deals there if you're willing to be diligent and look around for awhile. We also bought some books (brand new!) there.
i was pretty anal about buying only new for my first. with this baby, i am a lot more relaxed about it. of course i only buy stuff that's in nice condition, but i have since gotten a like-new phil & teds double stroller and arms reach cosleeper off of craigslist. one huge upside to buying new (besides saving $$) is that chemicals are very much lessened in the product. you'd be surprised at how many flame-retardant chemicals are sprayed on items to prevent companies from massive product loss if there is a fire in transport. even organic baby clothes and baby toys. the above poster mentioned washing used stuff 20 times--i'm the opposite now, washing new stuff over and over and and washing used stuff only once!
We have quite a few resale baby shops here in the Austin area (it's a popular area for resale). Anyway, we have been to a couple of them and at most of them I would probably not buy things other than clothes (since you can wash them).
It's in really good condition, some of it never used, and we bought it for $100. We got the whole crib set, 3 wall hangings, a fire truck lamp, the dust ruffle and valance.
I have had some decent luck at our local baby resale shops. Fortunately, ours don't smell funky and are nicely organized and neat. I mostly go for clothes. They don't take anything stained or in need of repair. I am really picky. I have found tons of cute Gap and Gymboree clothes in perfect condition. Some things have even still had tags on them. I have also had some luck with a few pairs of baby shoes. The three pair I purchased did not even looked used at all but little babies don't really need shoes so they should stay in pretty good shape anyway. I plan to hit a few rummage sales this summer also for clothes mostly. I want our DS to have mostly wood or cloth toys which I would not be likely to find second hand and would rather purchase new. I would wash anything from a rummage or resale shop a few times.
i've bought a ton of stuff at mine. some things are over priced, and it does kind of smell like baby barf lol, but i've gotten a ton of great maternity clothes there for really cheap. i've also bought a baby swing, and a few baby clothes as well - though i think their baby clothes are a little over priced (mostly bc i've gotten a ton of great deals at yard sales lol).
i'd buy anything that was washable - but then again, i don't have any issues with 2nd hand things.

I would by clothes at a consignment shop. Our local consignment shop is very picky about what they accept, though I think they are a little pricy, and I can often find brand new things at Target at Walmart for similar prices. However, at the end of each season, they have a $5 bag sale where cram all you can in a bag and get the whole bag for $5, no limit on number of bags. I scored DS a TON of stuff at the end of last summer for this year, and at the end of winter for next winter. Unfortunately, the stuff in DD's sizes were mostly picked over. They were all nice and in really great condition, some still had original tags on them.
I don't buy baby gear used though. I feel that it's a safety hazard because you just never know.

It just depends I have gotten different things I should shop there more to see whats avaiable but I am at a point with DD she has so much stuff! ? She is the first grandchild on both sides both grandmas live within 15 min so she is definitely spoiled. ? She does not want for anything which definitely has its advantages. ?I do shop there though I have gotten, shoes, socks, toys as long I can wash them off. ?Anything I can clean. ?I wouldnt buy a mattress. car seat but other stuff as long as it fit safety standards. ?I almost bought a double jogging stroller but it wasnt going to fit what we needed. ?Just depends on the stuff. ?You never know just like I'd buy garage sale stuff. ?It can save you tons I recently bought a playset for ages 6mo-4. ?At toysrus its 150. ?I found one on craigslist for 40. ?Barely used. ?Its great. ?Good Luck!
I have found that it really depends on where the store is located, the quality of the items. There are a few good used clothing stores I will shop at close to me.
I went to a Play it Again Baby this weekend and got a ton of cheap maternity clothes and a few books for the baby. They also had good prices on some movies, toys, bedding, and baby clothes. You definitely have to look through things, but you can find some great deals. I have no problem buying clothing second hand. You just need to wash it is all.

Agreed. Personally I find that if you hit the sales at regular stores you can get the same if not better deals than buying used.

However, at one of the shops I did find an entire firetruck bedroom set (here's the link: https://www.babysupermall.com/main/products/kmg/kmg617033.html)
