Babies on the Brain

Am I the only one who has a problem w/...

having a tv/dvd player in a kids room?  I'm not talking about when the kid is a teenager,  but for instance DD is 3 and for some ridiculous reason DH put a movie on for her in her room tonight on the portable DVD player.
I just went in to turn off her radio (she usually falls asleep listening to music) and she's still wide awake watching a movie.  I go to turn it off and it turns into WW3.  She was yelling "Daddy said I could watch a movie!"
DH thinks I'm being ridiculous- I'm sorry- my kid was supposed to be asleep at 7 30.

  • I can't stand when parents do that.  I wasn't allowed to have a t.v. in my room until I was 15.  It'll be the same for my kids...if at all.

  • Loading the player...
  • This is one of those things that will probably come back to haunt me, but I will never (that ugly word) put a TV in my child's bedroom. Teenager is one thing, but I don't see the need for a child.

  • I don't think its a good idea if it interrupts your scheduling. I certainly don't plan on doing that with my future children until they are older.
  • There is no reason for a tv to be in any bedroom. Bedrooms are for sleeping.
  • I totally agree with you.  Kids do not need a TV in their room.  Most of them watch too much TV outside their rooms, they don't need it interupting their sleep too.

  • number one way to make your kids screwed up.

I agree with pp. No reason for tv to be in bedroom. We're either sleeping or screwing. No need for tv.

  • I have a tv in my bedroom for two reasons- one: DH goes to be abt 3-4hrs before I do, but he likes for me to lay next to him and two: especially now that I'm so sick, most days I have a hard time getting out of bed to make it to even make it to the bathroom so I would be bored out of my mind w/out something to watch.

I still don't think that DD should have one in her room though.
  • Nope, you are not ridiculous at all.  I am currently engaged in a battle of wills with my dh, who wants to put a TV in ds's room.  That's right, a 4 month old. Now that is beyond ridiculous.
  • We don't have a tv in our bedroom so why would our child? TVs are a no no for us in bedrooms.
