I did think of the bible story, but I still really like the name a lot. It does have kind of a bad boy/ soap-opera quality to it. At any rate, if you like it, use it.
Actually, even though I'm totally into Old Testament stuff, I thought of the rich family from Veronica Mars!!! Haha! I like the name, go for it if you like it.

I'm not religious and I like it... no associations here. But, I guess if you're from Texas, then most people are going to associate it with the religious connotation.
I do have to say, of the 6 years I spent in the south, southerners find the best names for their kids (ie - moms maiden name, unisex names) and I think Cain, Caine, Kayne totally fits that mold.
Re: What is your first thought?
I immediately think of the Bible story where he killed his brother Abel. Sorry.
Ditto
Without a doubt.
Abel...
But I do really, really like the name! I think the spelling Kane *might* help some ppl disassociate
This.
First thought: The Caine Mutiny (book)
Second: Bible story
Third: Being nicknamed "Sugar" for life?
Mes Petit Choux

this!! ^^
Isn't there a very scary wrestler named Cain?
Yep
Ditto this!
H and I have a friend from church named Cain- he's a great guy, doubt he'd ever consider killing his brother
Ha! I'm in the same boat. I thought of Dean Cain.
I haven't looked at the other answers.
My first thought is "and Abel", and therefore - don't do it. Please.
