Anyone own a Bugaboo... I know, lot's of $$$

DH and I have been looking at TONS of different strollers. ?We thought we were sold on the Uppa Baby, but when we were at Buy Buy Baby yesterday, the sales lady really recommended the Bugaboo (I think we like the Cameleon, DH is taller than I am and the Frog doesn't have an extending handle). ?I know it is tons of money, but our mothers have said they would help out. ?Let me know your thought and if you love yours or just like it.

?

Thanks!?

  • We were considering it, but decided against it, I heard it is kinda hard to use because there are so many positions/features. ?(that is from the sales rep at the store, she directed us to the Tuetonia) I do know a lot of people who love them. ?GL

  • My friend has the Chameleon and she told me she absolutely loves it but that were it not given to her as a gift, she would have gotten another more affordable stroller and been just as happy. She had a brand in mind - I can't remember what it was. Basically she thought that hers was way overpriced and you could find comparable strollers for hundreds less.

  • try asking on the Babies board where the mommies who may have brought them are using them -

I brought a travel system from Graco with DS  and will use it again. The bugaboo was just out of my reach.

We played around with it for an hour yesterday and it seemed pretty easy. ?I don't know if I love that you have to take the seat off to fold it up, that is a big downfall... I know it is expensive, but there hasn't been anything else we really love... and I know that is what it is all about : )

Did your local store have the Tuetonia? ?I've seen adds for it, but I haven't see in the store.?

  • My sister had one and hated it.  Said it was designed less for Mommies and more for Nannies.  There was no place to put things you needed for the LO - like a tray for snacks or a cup holder. And there was something she didn't like about the design.  I agree with you I really like the way they look - but I'm going to take her perspective as a mom and an engineer that they are not the best thing out there.  The good news is that when she decided to get rid of it on Craigslist it moved quickly at a v. good price.
  • I like the UPPA much more than the Bugaboo. I like how the bassinet sits up higher and I just like the overall look a lot better. The price is great too!
  • Have you tried Inglesina's Zippy? That's got a ton of features, is easy to maneuver, folds up faster and more compactly than any stroller I've seen and is a lot cheaper than the Bugaboos.

    ?

Yes, the store did have the Tuetonia. ?You have to take the toddler seat out if you want it to fold compactly, but it will fold with it in as well, just bulkier. ?It is super durable etc, but it doesn't have a cup holder or anything like that. ?I did look at the UPPA and liked that one as well, much more than I like the bugaboo. ?

I think we are going with the Tuetonia, it is most comfortable for me and DH. Also, the wheels can't go flat, so you are not carrying a pump or anything like that. ?We will probably get the 3 wheel so it can be used a jogger as well, because you can lock the front wheel. ?

  • I bought one, I know it is a lot of money but I am going to really enjoy it. Many of my friends have them and they are super happy with them. ?I bought the Chamelon and love all the features. ?I find it rather easy to use. I like that the seat comes off and makes it lighter to lift up. ?It is so easy to remove the seat and re attach it. ?I looked at many many stroller and the Bugaboo just handles so well. ?I have never meet anyone that did not like it. ?The only negative I have been told by mothers is that there is no way for it to be a double stroller and they wish Bugaboo would come out with an adapter or another seat to accomadate 2 children.
  • I did not buy a Bugaboo I got a chicco I wasnt going to spend a ton on a stroller, ?I really like it personally sad that I won't be using it. ?I am now having to purchase the bumbleride indie twin because its one of the few that will that the infant car seat. ?I will say this we use our lightweight umbrella stroller way more than the bulkier one just because its easier so something to think about when making a big investment. ?I would check craigslist in our area there are bugaboo for sale all the time and sometimes they are really new. ?I did like having a system that the babyseat can latch into though very helpful the first few months. ?It is an investment though everyone spends it differently I spent alot of money on furniture since I knew I wanted stuff that lasted. ?Good Luck!

  • Just to give you yet another suggestion...have you looked at the Phil and Ted?  I suggest this because now that I am pg with #2 I need a double stroller, but I already own an expensive stroller.  P&T's are awesome and you can buy a single and when you have a second child later on, just buy the doubles kit instead of a whole new stroller.  For the $$ you would spend on a Bugaboo, it is worth checking out.  P&T are the same price range, but I think you get a better long-term deal.  I'm looking at the Vibe because it folds down smaller than most single strollers, but my gf has the Sport and she LOVES it.

  • A friend of mine who has a 2.5 year old and has lots of mommy - note: all fairly well off - said everyone she knows that spent $ on a bugaboo loves it and is still using it. She said herself and another couple moms that went for good but less expensive stollers have ended up buying several different models after they broke or child outgrew (infant car seat frame stroller).

Her advice to me was if she had to do it all over again she would get a great (ie. bugaboo or UPPA) stroller, one jogging/bike trailer stroller and then a decent umbrella stroller.

Although DH is fine with buying all that we really don't have the room for it (small condo). We are leaning towards the BOB Revolution as our jogging/everyday stroller.

I think it is your call. Do you think you will use it a lot? We don't drive much and need ours to handle grocery shops, jogging, long walks (we like 1-2 hour evening strolls just us so assuming we will with baby too). We also have a mild winter, I am taking a year mat leave, DH works from home - we will use ours a lot.

My 2 cents: go for it if it makes sense for your life and you can afford it.

  • We're getting one a bugaboo cameleon!  We are lucky enough to have relatives to get it for us... bonus is a friend of mine can order one at a discount!  A big plus!  :)
