My friends asked me to pick the date, help decide on a location and what colors (or theme) I like, but they are taking care of all the food and details.
I voted for somewhat involved... My shower hostesses are my MIL, two SILs and my friend. I am pretty much aware of what everyone is doing but not too sure about all the details. My MIL is doing the cake and part of the food (other than this I have no clue) One of my SILs is doing part of the food, the drinks and the tables and chairs.
My friend is doing the decorations, favors, invitations, games and prizes- I am helping her with putting this together. She picks certain things then asks for my input.
My Mother and MIL are giving the shower. I know they haven't made any official plans b/c my mom has been trying to get ahold of my MIL and haven't asked me anything yet.

I am fully involved in it! I couldnt stand that idea of not being involved in it, I am pretty much planning it and my mom is hosting it. ?But that works for me, I am actually making it easier on her so she is happy about that. ?Its kinda fun and since Ive never gotten to throw one im enjoying it. LOL.
I'm not pregnant, but I am throwing my SIL's shower. I've involved her a little bit just to make sure she gets what she wants. I let her decide on the food and deco colors. I asked if there was anything that she absolutely didn't want and I went from there.
I responded doing most of the planning because that's how it feels, I've gotten the invitations (waiting to send them out because she hasn't finalized a spot mind you the shower in JULY 25th???!!!), chosen a theme, gotten a caterer, and decided on most decorations...
It's kind of frustrating but at least it will be what I and DH want I guess
I just think if someone is throwing you a shower, you should be grateful and appreciative of what you're getting. I just threw a shower for my friend and it was an absolute nightmare because she pretty much told me how she wanted everything and then purchased things and gave them to me to decorate, etc. In part, I felt ok because then I didn't have to spend my own money on things, however I felt since I was throwing her the shower that she should back off a bit. I almost felt like she was ungrateful.
They asked me about dates, and the guest list. They asked about what theme we are doing in the nursery but I don't know if they will use that or not. Now that I know the date I'm leaving the rest to them.

I know the date & location, but that's it. I kind of wish I had been asked if I had any preferences as far as food, games, etc. but I am glad that someone is throwing one for me at all.
Re: Poll: how involved are you in your own baby shower?

Involved in the date, gave a guest list, and went w/ my mom to order the cake (we used a design from the nursery for it).
But that ws it.
