hanging matted prints without frames...thoughts?

so this whole thing about not hanging art over the cribs in case it falls has me thinking- I wanted to buy a set of 6 or 8 prints (that would be about 11x11 with a mat) to hang on the wall above the cribs (it's a big wall- 2 cribs) & am trying to think of ways to hang them that would not look totally cheesy if they were not in a frame. I don't want to use ribbon I don't think, or the string/wire across the room w/ stuff dangling from it.

I did a quick google &a couple ideas came up (sorry I cant make clicky links on my mac :( )

I like this concept but didn't really want to add that much cost to the project:?https://www.posterhanger.com/howitworks.html

Gallery clips- not super cheap but cheaper than the posterhangers ($6 per picture vs $10 or $12):

use binder clips that hang from nails (maybe decorative ones? my bedding is alphabet & the prints I was going to get are letter-oriented so the binder clips might not be totally out of place)

find something that can attach to the back of the prints & hang on a hook like a regular picture hanger (do they make this?)

?

Anyone done this/good advice? Thanks!?

  • the command strips make a thing called poster hangers. It comes in a package of four for the little pack and they make a super pack. Each set holds a pound but it works like velcro but only stickier. and when you decided that you no longer want the picture up there, then all you have to do is pull the tab at the bottom of the strip. I have been using these for over a year now. It works great.

if you are doing a picture that big, I suggest getting 2 packs!

do they peel the paint off though? I get a little nervous about sticky things b/c of that.?

  • I like the idea of the decorative binder clips the best! :)

ETA: What I am picturing are actually called "bulldog clips".

  • I have hung the thicker matted pictures using mirror clips found cheap at Target/walmart/home depot etc. If you are hanging a flat poster like picture you can glue it to a thicker firmer board and use these to hang it. Here is a pic of what they look like, they're clear so you really dont see them. https://www.hardwareworld.com/Plastic-Mirror-Hanger-4-pieces-pRNHAEN.aspx

Not at all. I have taken them down once already to move and they didn't leave even a mark. You would have never known that they were there. I at first had that the same thing.

  • i love the look of the poster hangers too. Fairly contemporary too, which i like. They are cool!
