Convertible car seat

Ok, time to bite the bullet and get one! It's so sad to me for some reason to let go of the infant seat.  What convertible car seat do you have and do you like it?

Re: Convertible car seat

  • Britax Roundabout.  Recommended in Baby Bargains and personally recommended to me by a mom of four!

  • We have the Britax Marathon and Roundabout.  The Marathon is large and will not fit rear facing in my car, but fits fine in my DH's SUV.  Both are very easy to install and use.
  • We have a Recaro for my car and will be ordering another for DH's SUV.   It is large and hard to install rear facing in my car, but we have only had to remove it once and we reinstalled it faster since we knew what we were doing the 2nd time around.

  • We have two Evenflo Titan Elites.  They are much cheaper than the Britax and have a great safety rating.
  • We have a Britax Roundabout and we've been pleased with it so far.

  • We also have the britax roundabout and have been very happy with it.
  • We had the Britax Roundabout until Chase outgrew it. We now have the Graco Nautilus....

We also have the Cosco Alpha Omega Elite and have had the Graco Comfortsport and Evenflo Triumph.

We always said we wouldn't own anything but a Britax...but the car insurance company would only give up the replacement value for the Graco Nautilius.

Britax's are by far the best carseats made....just installing them proves it.

  • We have the Evenflo Triumph I believe. ?It was the one that was around 159. ?Its great! ?Eli has been so comfy in it, and it is rated just as high as the britax. ?the main difference is that Britax is crash tested in Europe, which they need to have higher speeds tested. ?
  • However, if you can afford the Britax Roundabout, then go for it! ?haha, thats kinda what i wanted at first, but then just went with the Evenflo, which I will say again taht we do love :).
  • WE also have the Evenflo Triumph. The newer ones go up to 50 lbs, which is nice. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the turn knob to adjust the seat instead of having to pull on a strap between the legs, especially when the seat is facing backwards. And it always tops the list for safety.

If I had the money, I might get Sunshine Kids Radian 80 seats for our cars. They take up a lot less space, fold up nicely for storage, and go all the way to 80 lbs.  They are heavier (steel frame), but less bulky. You can fit three across a backseat.

The Evenflo is $139-179. The Radian 80 is $279!  With our childcare situation, we need 4 carseats!

  • I can't speak to experience or use, but I like to share the wealth of the consumer reports membership :D Here's the top 5:

    1. The Evenflo Triumph Advance Premier (70)

    1. The Evenflo Triumph Advance LX/DLX (70)

    3. Britax Boulevard (65)

    4. The First years True Fit (63)

    5. Britax Marathon (61)

  • Our biggest issue with the Evenflo carseats was they have styrofoam on the insides that is not really secure. My husband was installing the brand new triumph into our new truck and was putting his knee in the center to make sure it was super tight...and the styrofoam broke...the piece that broke was one that couldn't be replaced..Unfortunately, we have purchased the seat from ebay and were unable to return it.
