1st Trimester

Is it possible to pull something in your abdomen?

I've hurt all day and it seems to be worse when I walk. ?No bleeding but oddest pain I've felt thus far. ?I've never had cramps before so I'm really new to this whole uterus/abdomen pain - I don't know what is "normal" and what isn't. ?I'm 8 weeks. ?Any advice?

TIA.?

  • Where are you hurting in relation to your belly button?

  • The ligaments and tendons in your abdomen do start stretching in the first trimester.  Hopefully that's all it is.
  • My guess would be that it's just your abdominal muscles stretching and making room for baby!  I've read that these pains can be aggravated by a lot of physical activity, so that may be why it's worse when you're walking.  I've also read that as long as your cramps aren't accompanied by heavy bleeding, then you should be ok.  But definitely talk to your doctor if it's something that's really concerning you.

Well your uterus is probably not even that high yet so if I had to guess it's the ligaments that are pulling it up.  They will get quite sore sometimes.  If it is immense pain that doesn't go away you may want to get it checked out, but if it is just when you get up and move and it isn't horrible I would just see how it feels in a few days.  As long as you aren't spotting and aren't having severe cramps there really shouldn't be anything to worry about.

I still get really sore when the baby is growing.  It's just something you eventually get use to. Smile

  • I'd go with RLP. I think mine started a little later, but everyone is different. I feel mine in the lower abdomen (around the pubic bone) through my hips.
  • I feel like my body is pulling down there if that makes any sense.  I'm getting used to it, but it freaked me out a bit at first.  It isn't cramps and doesn't hurt, just feels strange to me.  I bet it is just growth/stretching!  If it gets painful/making you double over, I'd call a doctor/nurse.

Yep.  You'll feel a lot more of that as time goes by!  Just remember pulling is a good thing because it means your baby is growing!
