3rd Trimester

Co-worker in first tri already using pregnancy pillow and "feeling kicks"

Sorry I'm a PW this afternoon.  I'm bored at work :-)

I think I posted before about this girl in my office who is about 12 weeks pregnant (with her first child) and claimed that she was feeling the baby kick.  When I told her that while maybe possible, it was highly unlikely, she told me that "no, her husband had felt the baby kick also," so she knew it was really kicks.  Yeah, whatever.

Anyway, today this same girl tells me that she knows it's dangerous to sleep on her back, so she's already sleeping with a pregnancy pillow (you know -- those snoogle type ones that are sort of c-shaped).  She wanted sympathy from me because she says sleeping with that huge pillow makes it hard for her to get out of bed in the middle of the night, and it's just so hard because "she's getting up to pee all the time now."

My face: Indifferent

followed by a glance down at my own huge stomach.

This girl is too much!

  • She has a LONG road ahead of her...

  • Wow.  I kind of can't wait until she's huge and REALLY uncomfortable.  Although, then she'll be a real pain in the asss for you to work with.  Yuck.

  • Oh wow.  Too bad you can't go on maternity leave for her entire pregnancy.  She would drive me insane.
  • I hope you are out on mat leave for a LONG time.  She sounds like a pill.  There was this one lady at work that was barely 8 weeks pregnant and she kept waddling through the hallways holding her belly or her back.  Pretty sure the only reason I might have been holding my belly then was because I felt like I was going to hurl and I was racing for the bathroom!

  • UGH! That's so annoying...but sounds like it's pointless for you to even try to educate her. She must just be an AW.

an acquaintance of mine on FB had something in her status the other day about having a baby bump at 9 weeks and I SOOO wanted to tell her it's just bloat, but just left it alone.

  • Thanks for the comments!  She really is driving everyone insane.

She spent the first half of her first trimester walking around the office holding gatorade and saltines and complaining about being sick, but being sure to emphasize that "you couldn't catch what she had"  (said in a coy voice).  Then she acted all shocked when people figured out that she was pregnant.

She's also been insisting on riding in the front seat on car trips, sitting during meetings where most people stand up, etc. since about 8 weeks.

And she's doing all of this in front of THREE of us who are visibly pregnant.  At least the three of us can commiserate with each other!

I can't wait to see her in third tri.  The whole world is going to hear about her misery!

  • OMG please start being obnoxiously courteous to her.. like in the bathroom, let her go first because, you know, she's pregnant!! (While you stand there with your giant belly waiting, LOL).?

And LMAO at the getting up to pee all night and fighting with the snoogle. Yes, that is accurate, but she's in a world of hurt when she has to rely nearly completely on gravity or DH to get her out of bed because the belly is just too much in the way!!

I agree that she has a LONG road ahead of her. What a PITA..
  • Gawd that is annoying.  My SIL is pg with her 3rd and due on the same exact day as me.  She was insisting at 13 weeks that she was further along than the dr (and ultrasound) said she was because she was having trouble sleeping on her back and was already feeling the baby kick.  Now I know she may have possibly been feeling kicks since it is her third and she is more in tune-but thinking she was further along than the ultrasound measured?  Another fam member said she has always said this with every pregnancy so I guess it is nothing new.

  • I'm gong to wish twins on her and see how she copes with that!  I'm measuring the size of an overdue belly!  Hahaha

I don't use a damn pregnancy pillow and manage to stay on my side with a pillow between my legs to reduce back pain.

Enjoy every minute of your maternity leave!

  • She is in for an awakening in the many months to follow.

  • Did you tell her that it was probably gas her and her man felt?
