Would you go to L&D if.....

You'd been having a "constant contraction" for 2 hours? 

It's not severly painful, just like a really bad period cramp.  I'm dialated to a 4 as of yesterday and I'm torn between waiting this out and seeing if this becomes timeable before heading in.

Thoughts?

    You may be contracting more than you realize.  I think it's a safe bet to call and head in to be checked out just in case!  You dont want to be one of those ladies who has a baby at home!  4 cm is a good start already!

    Tongue Tied  I think I'd call just because that sounds really abnormal.  A "constant contraction"?  Just seems weird enough to deserve a call to the doc to me (especially if they are still open).

    could you call your doc/midwife and they can tell you if you should go in?

    My doctor said I shouldn't go in until I'm not able to talk through them...but with you being 4cm I would call your doctor and see what she says.  When you've made that much progress already the way they do things might be different.

    On our hospital tour she said once you hit 4 cm they won't send you home b/c you usually start progressing pretty quick at that point, so I'd go.

    They said I am certainly "justified" to come in a get on the monitors, but she couldn't say if this was active labor.  It's very different than with DD, so I'm reluctant because I don't want to be sent home.  But like you guys said...I don't want to have the baby at home either.

    I wouldn't go to L&D but I would call my dr to see what she has to say.

    I would much rather be safe than sorry.  I'd head in and the worst thing they can do is send you home and you'll be in the same place you are now.
