Longest birth story ever...I highlighted to make scanning it over easy.

Sunday, June 7^th DH and I went to the movies (The Hangover is awesome btw!) 8pm I convinced H to have sex as long as I got on top haha by 8:30 contractions started! They were a little stronger than my regular BH so I timed them and saw that they were averaging 5mins apart (I had 13 the first hour.) The Dr said to go to the hospital to get checked so we got everything together and off we went.

I had the most amazing nurse, Gail (unfortunately her shift ended at 7am and I got a super annoying nurse after.) 10:30pm She checked me and said I was around 2.5cms (I was a slightly over 1 on Wednesday when I had my mems. stripped) and after being hooked up to the monitor she saw that my contractions were pretty strong and about 2-4min apart. She had us walk the halls for about 2 hours stopping back in to get checked twice. After walking my contractions were getting stronger but I was still walking and talking through them (even made a few phone calls.) Gail said she was pretty confident that this was real labor and called the dr. Around 1:30am they admitted me when I got over 3cms and offered an epi but I declined. I knew I would get one later on but I really wanted to experience as much of my labor as possible-I also wanted to be able to walk around or shower if I wanted.

3:20am the Dr came in and told me they would like to break my water to get things going and offered an epi saying the contrax would get a lot more intense but I still wanted to wait. Breaking my water was so weird..it literally just feels like you are peeing yourself hardcore for a long time since it just trickles. If you laugh or strain it gushes out?kinda funny. The Dr wasn?t fu<king around..my contractions got really intense pretty soon after. They were getting really hard to breathe through and they were very painful in my back. Horribly painful. Gail said the hot water in the shower helps a lot so I went in and it totally did . I wound up losing my mucus plug in the shower (that was lovely) and after being in there for what seemed like an hour at most I got out (that was when I started to notice my concept of time leaving me?it still hasn?t returned.) Apparently I loved the shower so much that by the time I got out it was light out lol.

I sat in the glider and tried to keep breathing through my contractions but they got to the point where they were so painful and there were barely a few seconds in between them to catch my breath so I asked for the epi (6:30am.) The guy was an asss and kept telling me I had a lot of bones in my back (wtf?!) and was having trouble getting it in. After 2 shots of Novocain & failed attempts he called in another guy and he finally got it. Getting the epi didn?t hurt at all, the Novocain was actually the painful part but for whatever reason my BP started dropping so they gave me oxygen and I stayed on and off it until I delivered. The epi made my legs feel a little like pins and needles (but not the painful kind) and very heavy.

At 7am they gave me Pitocin b/c I was only 4cms. At 9:15am they inserted an internal monitor for the baby (a thing touches the babies head to monitor her and the contrax better) b/c I wasn?t making any progress. They started talking about the possibility of a c/s if I wasn?t moving along in a little bit. At 9:45am they started this thing where they ran fluids through a blood warmer and it went through a tube up me into my ute so the baby had more cushioning on the cord during contractions (I never heard of this?kinda cool.)

At 11am I threw up out of nowhere. The Dr came again to talk about a c/s and give us the details of what would happen and I had to sign some papers about it. The nurse shaved where the cut would go and I was ok with the idea of a c/s since it would get baby out safe. The dr came in to check me and I was 10cm!! I was ready to push?so I had to switch from the idea of getting a c/s to pushing pretty fast. They started getting the room ready and I did a few pushes as they turned off the epi so I could feel enough to push. I started pushing at 11:55am. I couldn?t feel the contractions in the beginning but after awhile I could tell when I was having them bc of the horrible pressure on my rectum. I started getting really tired, out of breath and felt defeated. I had to have an episiotomy bc that was the only thing keeping babys head in and if I tore Dr said it would be a very bad tear. I didn?t feel the episiotomy at all. I started feeling like the area by my clitoris was tearing but I didn?t feel much pressure anywhere else other than in my rectum (I actually was hoping I would poop on the table to relieve the pain!) Hayden finally made her big debut June 8^th at 1:08pm! She weighed 7lbs 13oz was 18.5 inches long and her head was 34.5cm! She didn?t cry so that kinda was scary but she wasn?t blue?just very calm. She came onto me and started sucking her hands so hard I knew she was going to be a good eater! She breastfed beautifully at 2pm! My milk came in this morning but is still slow so I?m pumping to get a reserve going. She is doing amazing, sleeping a ton but super alert when she does actually wake up. We are obsessed with her! I had a 2^nd degree tear, I believe he said it was all the way to the anus but not through the muscle so he said it was pretty average and would heal fine w/no future problems. I was in lots of pain for 2 days but Sitz baths help a lot and Im def feeling better little by little. Ok-going to snuggle the baby! Sorry this was so long..I had a lot to tell! ;-)
