My first appointment is set for 8 weeks. I called and told them I was pg several days ago, and they did not ask me to come in & confirm with a blood test. Is that unusual? I see so many posts about people who get blood confirmation or get their levels checked to see that they are doubling.... just curious.

My sister never had one and she's had 4 kids. I personally wanted one just to see what my HCG levels were.

I didn't have one.
I had a battery of blood tests done on my first visit and I'm pretty sure a pregnancy test wasn't one of them.

Totally depends on the doc and, also, your medical history. If you haven't had history of miscarriage, I'd say it's more common than not **not** to have a blood test confirmation. I didn't go in until 8 weeks.
Generally, the women on here who are talking about blood tests, hCG doubling, and betas get these tests done because they've had a history of problems, or were under the care of an RE.
My ob offered me a script for a blood test over the phone but told me that as long as I took a home pregnancy test that it wasn't necessary. I decided against it and am just waiting until my first appointment on Tuesday (at almost 8 weeks).
Sometimes I kind of wish I had done it because I have VERY few symptoms and have been feelings really good. I worry sometimes that maybe I'm not really pregnant or that something isn't right (even though I'm sure that everything must be fine).
That.
With my first pregnancy, the mw checked the levels, just to see if they were in the normal range for my dates and they were.
Since I lost that pregnancy and subsequently had an ectopic pregnancy, I have to have levels checked for normal rises/abnormal pregnancy.
Most women don't need that level of attention, and if you didn't have that, it's a good thing.

No blood test, they did a pee test. They collected blood and I guess I will find out the results at my first appointment on Thursday.
*Edit- results meaning levels, not confirming I am pg
I did not. I will not see my doctor until 8 weeks.
I think a lot of the "level checking" is for fertility patients or people who have had previous losses.
