Stroller picks?

I just got back from Babies R Us and WOW it is so overwhelming there!  How many strollers do I need?  Do I need a jog stroller for rough terrain, an umbrella stroller for quick use, AND the big one that is part of the travel system?  I am fine with registering for the cheapie umbrella stroller and one other, but seriously I don't need three in total.  I hate that the travel system strollers are so bulky and heavy & I hate that most jog strollers don't have all the perks like cup holders and storage etc.

What stroller are you registering for and why?

TIA

We purchased the Graco Metrolite Travel System.  The system is light weight (around 18lbs).  I tried it out in the store and it was very easy to fold, pick up, etc.  I really liked the way it moved around.  This will be the only stroller we get.

  • I just bought a Quinny Zapp. I don't need more than one stroller nor do I have the space for 3 strollers. So I bought one that was good for our terrain on the farm as well as one that was good elsewhere.

It's also medium weight so I can carry it around easily.

It has a cup holder and a basket underneath..that's about all I need..I didn't get too worked about the perks. My SIL has the most tricked out stroller there is and she never uses 1/2 the options on there.

My other SIL has a Graco. It's heavy because it's a double stroller..but it's not bad and putting it up is super easy.

  • I'm going with the BOB jogging stroller and that's it.  It has a conversion kit you can get to make it a travel system, as long as you get a certain infant seat (like Graco Snugride).

I'm going to wait on the umbrella stroller bc I think in most situations I can just use the jogger.  If I do get an umbrella stroller, I'm not sure yet whether I'll go cheapo or McLaren.

  • We're going with the Uppababy Vista. We live in NYC so I wanted something heavy duty, and we like that it has the bassinet as well.

In your case, I'd definitely consider just a jogging stroller with the car seat attachment. Seems like it would suit most of your needs, plus an umbrella stroller for later on.

  • I have a Bumbleride Indie, which is a light jogger/all-terrain.

Graco, Chicco, & Peg infant seats all snap into it to make it a "travel system."

We're also getting an umbrella stroller.

  • We're getting a Baby Jogger City Mini.  I'm not getting a travel system for a number of reasons.  We live in the middle of nowhere (no sidewalks) and baby is being born in October.  By the time we use the stroller the baby wont need to be in the infant seat, he'll be able to sit in the regular stroller seat.  The second is we live on the 3rd floor, and the Jogger is only 16lbs, versus 25lbs for many travel systems.  I also hate the look of travel systems, but that was a secondary consideration.

I love the Jogger because it has a really easy fold, and it's very compact.  It has great reviews and got an A in baby bargains.  The price is great ($230) and you can purchase accesories like cup holders.  You can also purchase an adapter that makes it a travel system for some car seats (not ours unfortunetly).

  • I have a cheapie umbrella stroller and the only time it gets used is when Rylie climbs into it in the house and wants us to push her around inside.

We have the Graco Metrolite stroller and we use it all the time.  It isn't all that heavy.  It has been a great stroller.  I don't jog so I don't need a stroller for that, that's for sure.  LOL

Darn you! I never heard of this stroller, now I think I have to have it!  I need a light (bad back), versatile stroller, this seems perfect.  A little pricey though, especially b/c I want the snack attachment, the bassinet...  Does it fold up well?  Hard to tell how compact it is, I have a sedan so it has to be small when folded.
  • You really should only start with one stroller.  Simply no need to go all out at the beginning.  Then if you find it doesn't meet all your needs you can look at other options.

Umbrella strollers have a very limited recline, if any at all.  They are for use with older children.  Definitely not infants.

I know many people who bought a jogging stroller and found that it met all of their needs right away.  Just make sure it has a full recline and if you intend to use if with the carseat that it is compatable with a carseat.

We had a Graco Metrolite travel system for DD.  And while we like it and got a lot of use out of it, it wasn't what we wanted this time around.  We have also had a Peg Perego Aria (broken by airline when we travelled) Pliko 3 (really like and recently sold on Craig's List) Chico Umbrella stroller (really liked for an older child, recently sold on Craig's List) and a cheapy $20 umbrella stroller from BRU.  The $20 stroller is especially helpful when travelling.  Our flights are long and she doesn't want to walk all the time.  And if an airline should break this stroller I won't care.

For this baby we have an Uppa Baby Vista.  After much research we figured this would be a great way to go.

Same.  Except that we live in a metropolitan area and I wanted to make sure it was something I could carry easily handle on the metro if necessary.

  • I would get a snap n go type to go with the carrier. Then decide what best suits you when your baby gets a to be a few months older.

I went the TS route and hated it. I had the Chicco Cortina. This time I will buy a Maclaren easy traveler (snap n go). I have a Phil & Teds Vibe and a Maclaren Quest as well. I'm going to order the doubles seat to go with my P&T when I get closer to being due.
