I know it is different for everyone, but I always hear how women's breasts get so much larger during pregnancy - which made me wonder - do you end up buying new bras at some point? Do you just deal with what you've got? And then there is breastfeeding, which also requires new bras...
And bras in general aren't cheap really.
Seems like bras could potentially break the budget...
What did you do?
Re: because I'm avoiding work - a question re: bras/breasts and pregnancy.
My bra size went up two cup sizes by about 18w, and have gotten more full since then but not a ton. I bought four new bras - two at Target for $10 or less, and two at Gap Body on the clearance rack for $7.99. I've worn all four on rotation for the last 20+ weeks so I feel like I've gotten my money's worth.
I plan to get a nursing bra or two after the baby but am going to rely on my cheapy Target nursing tanks for a while. It's not like I have anywhere to be the first few weeks anyway.
I ended up buying a few fairly inexpensive cotton bras. They were comfortable and stretched enough to allow for them to grow. Closer to th end of my pregnancy, I bought some nursing tanks and nursing bras. All in all, I didn't buy enough new bras to put a dent in the budget.
I didn't need to order new bra's during my pregnancy, but I also didn't need to wear maternity clothes (since I had GD and ended up losing weight while I was pregnant). My boobs definitely got bigger, though - I would guess at least one cup size - they just still fit in my old bras!
As far as BF goes, I have one nursing bra, one strapless bra that's comfy and easy to nurse in, and one sleeping/nursing bra (my favorite - it's so comfortable!). The strapless bra was a pre-PG buy, but I ordered the other two from this website and I'm very happy.
And, if you think they're huge while you're pregnant... just wait until your milk comes in!! You'll feel like Pamela Anderson!! :-) My husband has never been so "fascinated" by boobs and their ability to completely change shape in front of his eyes!!
This is what I'm concerned with. I'm not huge now, but full breasted and I have a hard to find bra size (30G) so most places like target don't carry that size. I rely a lot on web sites and such for bras now... I can only imagine what will happen later. Maybe my band size will go up too - and then I'd be more likely to find stuff in stores that would fit.
I wear a cotton bra....my boobs didn't grow that much when I was pregnant, but holy hugeness when my milk first came in. Right now they are still much bigger, but not as big as they were at first. The cotton ones are nice because the size isn't so critical so they fit...also, when i first pump they are "deflated" and then get very full and big leading up to the next pumping...lol
I went from a 32c to a 36d - definitely couldn't have stayed in the old bras. the d's still fit, but i can't wear them and nurse.
I got bras for cheap at TJ Maxx - like $10/15 a piece. They are nice, too.
For bf'ing, I bought 4 nursing tanks (2 black, 2 white) and i have a nursing bra, too. I prefer the tanks. I got them at target - like $16 each.
