Babies: 0 - 3 Months

2nd Tri-er sneaking over to ask a question...

If you had long hair prior to and during pregnancy, did you decide to cut it short (or shorter) just prior to or after the delivery of your baby?

My hair is long-ish and I'm wondering if most ladies feel like it's too much of a hassle when the baby arrives.

  • You should actually get extensions so that they can double as a nursing cover in public.

    HTH!

  • Ha ha... Good question! I am thisclose to cutting my hair. My DD has decided my hair is her blankie and hangs on to it when I hold her. Not too bad until she grabs the really sensitive hairs at the nape of my neck and yanks. YOWCH!

  • LOL Iris - go for the curly extensions, more coverage!

I had super long hair and I cut it right before going back to work at 3 months pp.  I just didn't have the same amount of time in the AM to blow it dry.

  • Nope b/c it seems easier for me to just pull it back out of my face....plus I think shorter=more work unless its very short that doesn't require much maintenance.

  • Kept it long.  It's easy to just pull up in a ponytail and when I go out, I can leave it down and it looks good.  Plus, when my hair was short, it was much higher maintenance (I actually had to take a lot more time on it to look good.)

    Ditto

  • I cut my hair - a few reasons -

    (1) DD was using my hair as a sort of handle when I carried her around and it was hurting getting my hair pulled all the time

    (2) starting at around 3 months I started shedding loads and loads of hair - this is normal for a new mom and should hopefully only last until 6 months, but the shedding is just easier to deal with when my hair is shorter

    (3) my DD suffered from toe tourniquet syndrome while my MIL was watching her ~ I figure the shorter my hair, the less likely another hair will get wrapped too tightly around one of her digits.  Of course I'm super vigilant about that now, but still.

As for taking care of it - long hair is easier to take care IMO.  And, it's taken me a couple of haircuts to get the shorter style right.  I really didn't like attempt #1.

it really is. i cut my hair about 7" while I was preggo. I'm growing it out now. It's long enough that I can put it up thank god. Long hair is much easier
