3rd Trimester

sick of being told (vent)

I'm so sick of being told what I will/will not want to do (or be able to do) at the end of my pregnancy.

I'm planning on working up until my due date, and if I'm still not in labor I will go in for a few hours a day and help out during the busy hours until I do go into labor.  I figure it will be a good distraction and it will keep me up and walking which is one of the best things to do to bring on labor.  I understand that I will be swollen and maybe more miserable, but as it is I'm still working 50 hours a week now.  Plus I don't want to just be sitting at home waiting to go into labor-I can't imagine a worse way to spend the last few days.

I'm just frustrated being told this by so many people-all of them who don't work anymore or took off work as soon as they were able to.  These are also the people telling me that I "can't" be working overtime now because I'll be too tired.  Um, yeah, I'm able to do it and know my limits.

The people at work are being really supportive (even those that have had kids).  They are all about "you do whatever you can tolerate-no pressure either way."  It's just coming from people that I don't even want their opinions.  Don't ask what my plans are re: work if you're just going to judge them.  Leave me the hell alone-I'll decide what I'm able to do or not!

Sorry that was so long-I just needed to get that out somewhere.  End Vent.

Re: sick of being told (vent)

  • It definitely depends on how you're feeling.  People tell you everything you don't want to hear when you're pregnant--very annoying.
  • Loading the player...
  • That is really annoying. I know several women who worked right up until they went into labor, so it's definitely doable.
  • My mom worked up until the day she delivered my little brother.  She taught school all day and delivered him that night!  If you feel like it, do it (and tell them what they can do with their opinions!)
  • You know yourself best!  So do what works for you.  I am sure they are just trying to be supportive but golly sometimes this support is annoying, I agree!

Sometimes I think people think first time mothers are completely stupid and don't know anything...if I hear one more time take naps when your baby does...I'll scream.  I know!  I know!

  • I'm with you. I went to a concert the other night (without my DH-THE HORROR!!!) and you would have thought I was telling people that I was planning to go sky diving. I'm sick of being a prisoner in my house!
  • I'm sorry they are sticking there nose in where it doesn't belong. I've got to tell you, I'm a teacher and my last day was last Thursday. I've been out a little over a week and I'm already bored. I have nothing to do at home because we already have everything ready for the baby. I say if you're feeling good enough to go into work by all means go in to work! :)
