I did at a year. I am not sure if that is correct or not. We have no history of allergies. I gave a little at a time just to make sure he didn't have some crazy outbreak or something. He eats PB & J now !
Different pedis have different points of view. ?I believe 3 years is at a more extreme case. ?We have no allergies in our families and nothing in our daughter yet and so based on our pedi and the AAP will do it between 20 and 24 months (our pedi/AAPrecommends not before 24 months / 2 years, even with no history of allergies).
The newest studies say peanuts should be introduced before a year if there's no history of allergies in the family. At a year, DD's pedi said 18 months. Then this study came out and at DD's 15 month visit, her pedi said to go ahead and introduce it then. DD loves chocolate peanut butter but isn't too thrilled about regular PB.

A nurse in our peds office said the AAP recommends not giving it to them until 24 months (the way she made it sound was because it can be a choking hazard, but IDK). However we have no history of food allergies so we tried it with him and he loves it! We just make sure he doesn't stuff his mouth full and has plenty to drink.
There are conflicting studies some say 15 months while others recommend between 2 and 3.The issue with legume allergies is not so much a reaction now, but
introducing it too early and giving them too much can cause a much more
serious reaction once they are older. They may be fine to eat it at a year, but then when they are 3 or
4 they develop an anaphylactic reaction Especially if there is any
history off allergice disease on either side of the family- asthma, hay
fever, eczema, in addition to food sensitivities, and seasonal
allergies.
For me I didn't have any family history of allergies and my mom gave me peanut butter at 12 months because my older brother ate pb&j's all the time however about 2 years ago I was eatting some pistacios and my throat started swelling. I later tried peanut butter and same thing happened. I tested allergic to tree nuts and peanuts, but craved peanut butter all throughout my 1st pregnancy and the dr said to try a small dose of it with bendadryl and my epi pen and I was fine! Go figure.
Soynut butter and sunnut butter (from sunflower seeds) are great alternatives and most kids wouldn't know the difference even after having the real thing.
We were told 12 months and I waited until then. We have no history of allergies in either family but I was still freaked out about it because of all the concern about recations....but DD did just fine with it. If you have a history of family allergies I would ask your pedi.
I tried it very recently and it's been OK. DH has a severe shellfish allergy so we were very cautious. However, something was just telling me that if I waited too long, Adam would have a reaction to the PB. You see all these studies that show that waiting can be a problem, and my gut was telling me that if I waited until 2 or 3, it would be a problem.
So I figured, if I tried it now and he had a reaction, at least I'd know. If I waited and he had a reaction, I'd always wonder if I should have trusted my instinct.
