Amount of items on Registry...

I was looking at my target registry and they have that break down of how many items you have... now Im worried that i have too many items on it. I dont want to look greedy, and most of the items are $15 and under, with about 6 items being big ticket.  Im just curious what the "average" number of items on a registry were...

Re: Amount of items on Registry...

  • I feel like we have alot too!  We have like 68 but then some (diaper pins) are for multiple.  Only 2 things are even over $100 though so hopefully people see me as a desperate first time mom instead of greedy!!!

  • Thats kinda how mine is two of my big items are the stroller, and the Pack and play... the others are closer to 25-50 like the bath tub, and a tummy mat... i just feel like people will look at the list and think "gosh did she register for enough!" grrr.... i wish there was a standard list of things to put on it and you just got to pick your color, or pattern.

  • Its totally annoying too!  I have heard that for the most part people dont buy you from the registry anyway- they buy what they like and tons of cute outfits.  I am guessing I will have to return/exchange wayyy more than I would like!!!
  • I wouldn't worry.  The last few people I went to showers for had 80+ items on each registry.

  • I had 65 on BabiesRUs and 15 on Target.  I had about four big tickets including crib, stroller, breast pump, and convertible carseat.  I say add what you want to the registry so people have a variety of items to choose from.  If you don't get them all, at least you will get a completion coupon.

  • Mine was at 63 but I just added some books so now it's at 70. I think that your fine with what ever amount that you have. I think that there is two resons for a registry. 1. for other people to know what to get you and 2. so you know what you need or still need.

  • The more items you have in varying price ranges the more options & choices people have! I had 75 on one, 20 on the other. And after my first shower (I am having 2) I only have 30ish items left between the two. I actually have to go back & add stuff because the next shower is 60 people!

  • I have 105 items, a mix oif high and low dollar items.  My first shower was Sunday and 57 items were bought (29 guests). All my big items were purchased (infant car seat, convertible car seat, high chair, etc.) and nearly all of my small (medicine chest items, baby bath, etc.) were also purchased. Most people bought from my registry.  I have another shower coming up next weekend, and no one seems to have bought much for that shower, I expect I'll get alot of non-registry items there.
  • We only have like 30 items and I feel like we need to put more on, I don't want to people to think I expect them to only buy the big ticket items. Glad you posted this subject!

  • Registries are purely suggestions.  It doesn't require anyone to "have" to buy anything for you.  So you can have 500 items - it doesn't matter. People will still buy what they want to buy.  They aren't going to buy more just becasue you have a lot - so you cant really be "greedy" about it.

  • I have about 70 things on my registry, most of them between $5-50. The only big items I had on there originally was the breast pump and a high chair. Someone commented to my mom that I didn't have much "big ticket items" on there which annoyed me, so I added a Fisher Price Papasan swing ($149), which is the last thing I want right now.  I just want people to buy me the things I put on my registry because I did all the research and spent a lot of time picking things out, and if they get me things that are not on my registry, I will not be happy. I realize that sounds really spoiled, but I've been through this at my bridal shower and I'm still stuck with things I never wanted and still have yet to use.

  • We have about 70 items, and still need to add the layette.  I think the bigger issue is just ensuring you have enough in a wide range...and not all big ticket items, unless it is just a shopping list for you.  Truthfully, when I get a shower invite with lots of items on the registry, I'm happier b/c I can pick what I like and find more interesting from the registry and have a better feel for the registrant's tastes.

  • I have about 75 and 38 have already been purchased. My first shower isn't for another 2 weeks and my second isn't until Mid July.
  • I was told to make sure that you had 1-2 items on the registry for each person that you are inviting to purchase for you! ( smaller items of course ) and as far as the larger items, Enough that if you have groups, ( church, work, college ) of friends they can go in together on the pricier items!
