I got a call from the nurse at my RE that got me very upset. I just did my 2nd IUI a few days ago and she calls telling me that my doctor said we can move on to IVF.!
We don't even have the results from #2 yet and usually you do 3 of them before you move on. She didn't offer any explanation and I had to call her back to get one. She tells me my Dh sperm count is low (this was not said before, before only his morphology was low) and because of my age we could move on to ivf. My fsh levels were good so I don't get why all of a sudden they are concerned about my age. She said the eggs are ageing every day. I am just shocked that here I am hoping for good news for #2 (which I won't find out til next week) and she is telling me to consider IVF ahead of time with out even doing #3. I am just really upset. I needed to vent. Thanks.
Re: Upsetting phone call
Wow. It honestly almost sounds like she called the wrong patient. And the "eggs aging every day" comment is just callous.
I would talk to your Doctor directly both about the content of these phone calls and how they were delivered.
Sorry!
"eggs ageing every day"
Are you familiar with the throat punch? Seriously she needs one. Sorry you had to be treated like that.
How incredibly rude!! ?Honestly, office staff can make or break a practice, and this lady needs to be reported. ?Your doctor will probably appreciate the heads up too.
I'm sure your eggs are stellar! ?GL on your IUI, and try not to let this ignorant woman spoil your day.?
My first thought, just like floridakat said, is that she called the wrong patient. If she is someone who would have delicate conversations while chewing and using words like "your eggs get older everyday," I wouldn't be surprised if she grabbed the wrong folder and started dialing.
I think I would have to call back and talk to her or someone else. I would just straight up tell her that you are upset by the message the doctor seems to be sending and ask for more explanation. Particularly since you have IUI results pending.
Sorry you are having to deal with this!
Ah my old clinic
I would def ask for a new nurse! Sheri, Ann or Joyce are the ones I liked.
Totally my first impression - she has you mixed up with another patient. Call back and have her confirm the social on the file (or some other unique identifier). And totally talk to the Dr about her phone-side manner. Not cool at all.
She sounds terrible. I would call and ask to speak to the office manager and make a complaint. That is the good thing about being in my 30's. I'm not scared to speak my mind like I was when I was younger. I would also mention the chewing of food when she gave you your results. She is really unprofessional.
As far as the IUI, I would listen to what they say and then do what you want. If you feel more comfortable doing another IUI, then that is what you should do.
Hopefully, IUI #2 is a success so it won't be necessary. And, you can tell that nurse to go fly a kite.
This really infuriates me! I'm so sorry you had to deal with that.
It really does sound like she had the wrong file. Even if she didn't, she certainly has the wrong attitude.
