Stupid idiot family - but everyone else rules! (kind of long)

So I've posted on here a few times about the issues with my extended (but only local) family.  Basically, it has involved my grandmother disowning me and the rest of my family completely ignoring that DH and I are pregnant. They're pissed at us because they missed our wedding last summer and had big parts (two of my aunts were my stand in mothers b/c my mom died when I was 16 but never called to say they weren't coming or apologize that they didn't show).  

Really long story short, they're not speaking to us... at all. And it's been incredibly lonely.

We live 3,000 miles away from friends and parents and have been so upset that our daughter would not feel love from family, etc.

In the last 24 hours, I have had TWO showers - one at work and one in our neighborhood... BOTH where people could not be more excited for us and already love our little one.  It's made me feel like I'm in an Oprah story, but at the same time feel like life always finds replacements.

When you think something stinks... somehow someone or something makes up for what you're missing.

    Sorry about the family issues, but I am glad that you had two great showers. It is your families loss for not being involved.

    Im sorry about your family but, I am so happy that you still have people who care so much about you and your family even though you are so far from any real family. That truly is something special =]?

    My mom has disowned me too (because she doesn't like my husband)-I haven't spoken to her since I've been married for about 6 yrs now. I like it that way, she is a very negative impact in my life. Yes, I love her but I have never felt any love from her. In her shoes, I have had many and still do, older women who are playing her role, only better. And I will not allow her to have any kind of effect on my daughter and soon to be born son. I am so happy in life that I don't think twice whether she should be here by my side at this time or not. You're doing a great job! Keep positive and am sure you are but just so you know, you are better off without them! And goodluck
