I do as long as my boss makes money. I'm the office manager for a securities and life insurance broker, so as long as he keeps clients coming through the door with lots of dough, I'm good.
I'm a property manager for a Homeowners Association. Unfortunately, bad economy or not, I never really have job security. Thus my decision to go back to school!
GL tomorrow! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
I'm not currently worried, but I work for a public traded company, anything's possible. Luckily my husband's job is pretty secure, we could pay our bills with his income if necessary
Not really. I don't necessarily feel my job is in danger right now, we seem to be keeping busy. I am second to last hired in to my department, but I've been here over 2 years now. What helps me with job security is that I don't get paid very well.
As you know, I'm a nurse, so as long as the hospital is making money then I should be ok. They were talking about pay cuts and such a few months ago, with possible lay offs, but not anymore. Apparently, the hospital made some money after all. Still scary though.

It's secure but I'm ditching this popsical stand the first chance I get. Our reporting structure was just modified and I'm now reporting to someone that is incompetent and I'm underpaid to boot. So I have been applying for new jobs every chance I get.
I really hope everything goes ok for you tomorrow!
Sort of. Bay Area media is taking a big hit and we're the only TV station left that hasn't done a round of layoffs in the newsroom. That being said I don't think we will if things start recovering end of '09/beginning of '10. Even if we did I do some things here no one else does so that makes me feel like I'd be fine. I'm not top of the seniority list though so if the layoffs sparked a union fight on seniority I might be in a tough spot.
I teach at a private school, so technically no. However, there's only two of us per grade level, so the only reason I would be let go is if I wasn't meeting their standards, not because of the economy.
However, last year was my first year teaching, and it was in a public school. My district let go all non-tenured teachers this year, so I definitely would not have a job if I had stayed there! SO glad I went private. Ironically, I was totally flamed for leaving public to go private. They all said I would get paid less, etc (I actually get paid the same)...but now I have a job and they don't! But I digress.
I like to think that I do. I work for a big corporation so you never really know. There were about 10 people who were laid off a couple of months ago from my department but luckily I made the cut.

DH and I are freakishly insulated. He's in a job where he is wanted throughout the country...and my boss loves me and he's the COO of the division. We are blessed, blessed people.

Technically no. But I work for a company of less than 5 employees so she is really loyal to us. Instead of laying me off, she put me to part time. So she tries to work with us.
Good Luck tomorrow Basta. Fingers crossed for you.
My DH and I are very lucky to have pretty secure jobs. He is a civil servant working for a local CSD in the IT dept. I'm an LPN and people won't stop getting sick, so I'm pretty good.

In a way, I would say my job is secure. I'm a substitute teacher, so the amount of days that I work are unpredictable. But I know that teachers (and their kids) are always going to get sick and some schools call in subs for trainings/large meetings.
DH's job is secure... he's the network admin for the city. The mayor just had a meeting yesterday saying jobs are okay, but a salary freeze is in effect now. Not too bad considering the alternatives! But dam, he was going to be getting an increase in July.
Good luck to all of you 'in the air' about your jobs!!
I'm not too worried. We are pretty busy here and they have already fired 2 people (due to abusing time) and 1 is quiting (says there is too much work, wtf?!) They have a temp and training a new girl, so I don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon.

I don't want to jinx myself, but I think we're okay. I'm an ER nurse, so the specialty nursing jobs are pretty secure. DH works for the county government. We're both union, so that's got to do something for us, right?
This is one of the many reasons I love my job. I have a lot of job security. And even if I do lose my job, there's plenty more RN positions around the corner. It may not be my ideal position, but it'll pay the bills.

I'm sorry.
Yes, I have job security and I'm really thankful for it. I work for a municipality. There are only two of us in the HR dept for almost 300 employees.
