Settle this for DH and I - we don't travel EVER and I am having a hard time with the whole sleeping on a bed with sheets that may not have been washed after someone spilled their bodily fluids all over them.....[Poll]
Depending on the "quality" of the hotel, the sheets are washed between guests. However, I have been known to bring my own pillow and blanket since those aren't cleaned as regularly.
And FYI--the remote control is the dirtiest item in the room. Bring some Clorox wipes if you're super-concerned.
I had a student during the fall semester who wouldn't ever fly anywhere because she insisted on bringing her own mattress to hotels. She said (and I quote) "it is the only way I can be sure not to get the AIDS."
One of my good friends was a manager at a hotel for a while and she said that she knows for a fact that sometimes the cleaning crews just make the beds out of laziness without changing the sheets.
The hotel we are staying at is a nicer one in Chicago.
As long as you're staying at a good hotel, the sheets should be clean. And, if you're concerned, have them change you to a different room or call housekeeping to come change the sheets with you there. I"m always more concerned with the coverlet/bedspread.
As long as you are in a nice hotel, I don't think you have to worry.. Although I never let the comforter touch me while I'm sleeping and I tend to bring a pillow case of my own since usually the pillow are laying on the comforter when you get there.
I do walk around in socks or flip flops though because hotel floors are gross!

?
that is so gross!!!! maybe you could ask them to wash them when you check in??

The comforters freak me out. And my own pillows and blankets are a given - just curious if the sheet thing is a little over the top.
I never really think too much of the sheets. Someone once told me that hotels are good about cleaning the sheets, the comforters on top, however, are another story. I always throw the comforter off.
I've worked housekeeping in a hotel before... believe me - everything gets changed and washed after each guest. Unless you're staying in a fea-bag motel or something... then ya, maybe I'd be worried.
Also, not to be gross... but just pointing this out. If there were bodily fluids spilled/excreted on the sheets, I'm pretty sure it would be noticeable. Most of that stuff will get hard if it sits around....ykwim? (pun intended)
I know it's pretty obvious on my sheets at home if something has happened...
Just thinking about dirty hotel sheets is giving me the creeps. Ick. They did a story about it on the news awhile back and it was sooooooooo disgusting.
I guess it would depend on the quality of the hotel. But I guess you never know.......
I have to admit that hotel sheets gross me out. Even at nice hotels you sometimes find little hairs in them. UGH!!!! I have to inspect the bed before I lay down. Oddly enough, the hotel remote doesn't bother me.

Try this
I think it was Kelly Ripa who swears by it.
That's really cool. The trip is this weekend, so it's too late to get one in time. But I am definitely going to get one for future trips!
