maternity clothing

Hi Everyone!

I am 20 weeks pregnant and its definitely time for some maternity clothes. I have heard of a re-sale shop in the Royal Oak area...but not sure of the name or exact name or location ...anyone out there know the place I've only heard about????  Thanks for the help.

Re: maternity clothing

  • I was just coming on to start a thread about the spring clothes swaps.  :)  They are great places to find maternity and baby clothes--for FREE, and stuff is pretty darned nice, honestly!  Can't hurt to check them out.  The Holly Swap is May 14th, the Lake Orion Swap is May 28th...but there's one in East Pointe on the 22nd of April, and one in Sterling Heights before that (I think next thursday).  These are typically very large groups of people swapping, no cost, no minimums or maximums, you take what you need and bring what you have (whether you have anything or not).  They take from premie clothes all the way up to adult clothes of all sizes.  They also take baby items and fabric, and at the end, typically the clothes that are left (and there are always TONS of clothes left) go either on to the next swap or go to charity, like clothes closets, crisis pregnancy centers, etc.  Let me know if you're interested, and I'll link you to the yahoo group that gives reminders.  Again, it's all free.  :)

  • I think youre talking about Slightly Pregnant. Its in RO and its a resale maternity shop. I went there yesterday to start my collection (Im super tall and I know finding pants is going to be the death of me) They had some okay stuff.... most of the shirts were really dated, but they had a nice selection of jeans and work pants. You have to be willing to take a lot of time to sort through everything or you will probably walk out disappointed!

    Happy Shopping!

  • I went to slightly pregnant and was not impressed.  The owner is pushy and the clothes are not worth what they are asking for them.  I thought that the store smelled awful and the selection was limited.
  • You have to spend time at Slightly Pregnant and dont let the owner push you into stuff you dont want. There are some good deals, but it really just depends on what you need at the time. I've walked away with a ton of stuff or nothing at all. It's worth it to take a look though.
  • I have a long inseam (34 inches), as well, and though you pay full price, they are NOT overpriced.  I have always found great jeans and pants in the JCPenny maternity catalog.
  • If you're looking for other maternity stores:  Buddha Belly Maternity in West Bloomfield!
  • I haven't heard of this shop in Royal Oak but you can buy really cheap stuff at www.OldNavy.com under their maternity section. Quality is not that great, but considering how much you will wear this clothes it doesn't even matter. Also, I bought a lot my shirts from regular stores because all you need are longer shirts and there are plenty of tunics out there that you can even wear later on e.g. bought nice cotton shirts from Express for $15 each!!!

Also, check out Target maternity section. Somerset Mall has Pea in a Pod but it is expensive.

    Have fun shopping!
