I'm upstairs getting myself something to drink and I head over to the elevators. The woman that sets up all of our conference catering events was walking into the elevator with me with some food. She turns to me and says "Is your name so and so?" I say "yes."
She says, oh this shower is for you.
My face:
She goes "you're on the sixth floor right?" Me "yes." Her "then yes this shower I'm setting up is for you."
Again and I say "I think it was supposed to be a surprise."
She goes "oh...well just don't tell anyone you know."
In case I haven't conveyed enough, let me do it again
Re: People are so, so, so dumb sometimes (shower related)
The thing is she wasn't excited about it. She was saying it like when you bump into someone that you know you owe something to. Like "Oh hey I need to get you that report, I'll send it this afternoon."
"Oh yeah I'm going to go set up your shower in a few minutes"
OMG!
Well. I had a work shower that was spoiled for me, too. I'm still kind of bitter about it because the date got changed so I was all ready on the wrong day! LOL Then had to "wait" for it because I knew it was coming.

this.
That stinks.
I accidentally found out that my work is throwing a shower - I was checking Facebook and didn't realize DH was already logged in. I checked "my" messages and there was one from one of my co-workers asking him for help with my schedule. I shut it really, really fast and am studiously trying to avoid any activity that would give the date/location/etc. away. I'd be pretty frustrated if some random person casually gave it away now!
Enjoy your shower though!!
It's in 15 minutes! LOL
lmao, sorry, that's kinda funny.
Dumb and funny.
Yay for a suprise shower though!?
I'm sorry, that's disappointing!!
Maybe she really did just have no idea it was a surprise. Surprise showers are very rare in my area (I've only ever heard of them on the Nest/Bump), so she was probably just making conversation.
Also, I know a shower is super exciting to the mother-to-be (and those going), but if she's just doing the set up, it really is just work to her. She's got to go make sure there are enough cups, etc., but she's not even invited. (I'm assuming she's setting up as part of her job because that's how it works in my office -- if she is invited, then it is super weird.)

Yeah I'm thinking she probably didn't know it was a surprise. We're a really large company though and the one that usually sets it up I think has more experience and knows better.
I'm kind of glad she's not going to be there because I have to fake sincerity now and its worse if someone there knows I'm faking it. At least now I know why I was invited at the last minute to a meeting lol
What was she thinking?
Thats so annoying. My mom is setting up my shower and she keeps telling me everything. I wanted a surprise but she spoiled the whole thing. Oh well.
That woman sounds like she's a pro at her job... That happened at my work for my bridal shower. I am normally the one that plans all the parties, so when people saw the email, they just assumed it was from me (forget the fact that it said a surprise bridal shower for XXXX). I was asked by 2 different people which room it was in, and when were they supposed to bring the food down, and which day was it on! When I looked at them saying I don't know what you are talking about, the first one said, didn't you send the email? Uh, no...
I can totally relate to you! Some people should just not be allowed in on a secret. Hope the party was ok though! (surprise!)
