At DD's 15 month appointment this morning, our doctor referred us to an ENT for persistent fluid in her ears. ?While she has only had 3 ear infections, she has had fluid in her ears for several months. ?Dr. thinks the ENT will recommend tubes. ?Any one else get tubes for fluid in ears??
Re: Persistent Fluid in Ears
DD is 14 months & just got her tubes the other week. She had constant fluid in her ears, but she did have about 6 ear infections.
I was pretty nervous about the surgery, but it was over in 10 minutes & she handled it really well. She had fluid in both ears, which they drained.
Hope all goes well!
My oldest never once had an ear infections. But had constant fluid in his ears! At 15 months we went to an ENT and they said tubes. So we went with it and got tubes. FWIW DS wasn't walking until the day after he got the tubes due to the fluid he was off balance.
We also tried tons of antibiotics and nothing except going to a Chiro helped. So if you want to avoid tubes try going to a chiropractor a few times to see if that helps.

Would you recommend the chiro? ?I am not against tubes per say, I am worried the fluid affecting her language development. ?It hasn't affected hr walking and we have only done antibiotics for an ear infection twice. ?It just never seems to go away. ?She does have a cold again so it is hard to say if it went away and came back with the cold or if it was always there. ?We have an ENT appt. the 22nd. ??
DS got tubes at 11 months. He had 5 infections over the course of 6 months. The infections and fluid appeared to be clearing when we went for re-checks, but I referred ourselves to an ENT b/c of the frequency. ENT said that there was fluid in the ear and a hearing test determined that he had mild, reversible hearing loss. We went back to the ENT after the tubes surgery and his hearing was back to normal levels.
Definitely one of the best decisions we made for DS...he started babbling a heck of a lot more the same day of the surgery!
I rec the chiro for any and everything! lol The few times that DS went and than went back to the ENT it had went down. But he is already deaf in his left ear so we went ahead and did the tubes. We didnt want to chance anything with his right ear. But I say give it a few trys and see what happens.
