Parenting after a Loss

What crib do you have?

DH and I are planning to move into a bigger place later this summer and that would mean that Michael will finally get his own room. ?I am shopping for cribs now and just wanted to see what your girls have and what you do and don't like.

Also for the Mom's of more than one, do you have a convertible crib? ?We were talking about the fact that when we get to the point of having another LO Michael would be just about ready for a toddler bed so we would need a toddler bed and a crib at that point anyway.?

We have this one.. Although we did NOT pay $730 for it (we paid like $490).. I really like it.. I wanted this style.. and this was the nicest one i could find in white.. It turns to a toddler bed, but not to a full size..but I don't care..

  • I have the Davinci Kalani set.?
  • We got one from J.C. Penney -- picture below in my page to Spartangirl. ?It's really good quality. ?It converts to a toddler bed, and then to a full bed headboard and footboard.

We have the Simplicity Christina, and Storkcraft Angelina.  Both have been good, both have had hardware issues.  I like the Storkcraft better though.  We got the Simplicity for DS as a gift, not my first choice, but it is what it is.  It lasted three years for DS.  Both are convertible.

We decided to get a new one for Evie because I was concerned about DS feeling like he was being "replaced".  I felt like if we booted him from his bed to give it to the new baby that would create issues.  It might have been totally unfounded, but we had the money for a new one so we just did it.

  • We have the Baby's Dream Ocean Crib. It has a drop gate and I have really liked it so far. It will convert to a toddler bed and then eventually a twin bed.

  • We have a convertible but I forget which one... anyways, Penny was due the end of October so we transitioned G in June.  He was starting to climb out somewhat so it was definitely time and 4 months was enough time to get him used to it before she came.  He did climb back in the crib a few times after she was born but that only lasted 2 weeks.

Delta Richmond. It is a convertible.
  • I have two Palis. One is a fixed side crib, the other is a drop side. I LOVE the fixed side one..it is so solid and well-made. The convertible is ok. I bought it second hand.

Both are convertible but I decided to not get the side rails. They are pricey, and for what I would have spent, I could get a decent twin mattress, and I figured the twins don't need a full-sized bed as toddlers anyway.

  • I have a sleigh convertible crib that I bought at Buy Buy Baby. It is by AP Industries, a Canadian Company, and I love it. They have all sorts of stains to choose from and it is solid wood. Also got good review in Baby Bargains.  I bought the rails to convert it to a double bed since I figure we might use it when he gets bigger or if we have a spare bedroom sometime in the future.  I didn't buy the stuff to make it a toddler bed, because I figure we may have anotehr one by then that needs the crib and I will just buy him a twin bed at that time (we have to have both in the same room, only 2 bedrooms).

    Good luck.

  • We have the Munire Essex in chestnut.  We love it.  It has fixed sides which is fine for us since we're both tall, but a short person might have problems when the mattress is at the lowest setting.  It converts to a toddler bed and then a full bed.
