Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Does your DC eat a full meal at mealtime?

or does he/she snack at mealtime?

Colin doesn't eat a lot of food at one sitting, but likes to snack a lot. He refuses meat. I really wish he would eat something other then fruit and veggies.

Any suggestions would be great.

Re: Does your DC eat a full meal at mealtime?

  • no, DS usually eats what I would consider 3/4 of a meal at mealtime.  Then he's had it with the highchair, so we let him down and he finishes while he's playing.  Maybe not the best longterm behavior plan, but he's small and I want to make sure he eats.

We accomplish the 3/4 part by reading his favorite books to him while he's in the highchair.  GL.

  • My son will eat a full meal, but only if I don?t overwhelm his tray with too many varieties at once. I first serve him his fruit as an appetizer. He eats that as I cook. I then give him meat or the main course. Once he starts getting bored of that, I give him veggies because that?s his favorite food.
  • It really depends on the day.  One day she will eat and eat and eat and the next I can barely get anything in her.
  • It varies a lot - some nights she just nibble on cheese, or avocado.  Other nights, she'll eat a veggie as well as pasta or 1/2 a grilled cheese.
