Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Oh No! We have chicken pox

Well, my 8yr. old boy does. DD was supposed to get her vaccination next week. So far, she has no bumps so they moved up her appt to today!

DS was vacccinated when he was 13mo. but never got his booster when he was 4 (thanks bio-mom).

I am selfish, because I just don't want DD to get them this week. Her bday party is this weekend!!

The Dr. said he has a mild case and they look almost all scabbed over and then he won't be contagious.

Re: Oh No! We have chicken pox

  • I'd so rather DS have the chicken pox than the vax, but it would probably mess up the birthday party pics!

Ditto. DH and I decided we'll wait until DS is 5 to do chicken pox. Hopefully he'll get it before then.

  • Have you had them? Just be careful... you're pregnant :) My pedi wouldn't give Robbie the vax yet because it contains a live virus.

Yeah, I've had them and so has DH. The pedi did tell me to notify my OB anyway... so I did.

The school DS goes too didn't sound to happy about him having CP. They must have been vaccinated to go to school. I guess he fell through the cracks. oops. I had no idea he hadn't had it all.

    Come on over ; )

you're lucky that it's a seven hour drive!  it would be a very impromptu bumpie gtg/chicken pox party :)  in all seriousness, I hope your DS feels better, and that - even if your DD gets them - they go away before the weekend.

  • Oh good! What did your OB say???

We didn't want to get Robbie the vaccine, but our school system requires it.

Oh... I paged you last week but I'm not sure if you saw it. Is the offer for the breastfeeding videos still good? We'd love to try them.

  • Oh no, I hope it doesnt get too bad.
  • I think the chicken pox vaccine is ridiculous - I always thought that getting CP was a right of passage. Unless your child has other problems that might cause serious complications, I really don't know what the vac is needed. And I'm far from being an anti-vaccine person!

That said, our daycares and schools require it, so DS got it at his one year check up.

Ditto this.  We go in a couple of weeks for the MMR and we are not going to get the CP vax.  I really hope he gets them on his own.

Nothing, she said thanks for letting them know. lol. Me and the baby will be totally fine. I guess everyone wanted to take the right precautions.

Sorry I missed your note about the videos. Absolutely. PM me or email me. tubs79@yahoo.com. I'll send them out this week.

  • I actually got CP when I was 17 and it was so bad that I had to be hospitalized.  I was happy to get DS's shot.
