2nd Trimester

I'm now a couch sleeper (long, whiney vent)

First, let me start off by saying this has nothing to do with DH.  I love him dearly and wish I could sleep with him all day and night!

My "Princess and the Pea Syndrome" has flared up: 20 fold!  Normally, I can't find a bed soft enough so I have layer upon layer of toppers on my mattress.  But now I just plain can't handle it.

If I lay on my side (I'll use my left as an example,) my right hip bone actually rubs my bottom rib and of course the dip cramps up after about 15 minutes.  Simple fix right?  Take the toppers off the bed and have it firm.  But, when I do that my left hip bone feels like it's digging into a slab on concrete.  I've actually woken up bruised.

On top of that, sleeping on my side makes my top leg go numb.  I can't do the pillow because even a rolled up hand towel to lift my leg up makes my hip and ribs rub even more.

I was able to sleep on my back up until about three nights ago.  Now it feels like I've someone is trying to cut my body in half right above my pelvic bones in my back.

I found yesterday that if lay on the couch, I'm tall enough to fit my owner hipbone between the cushions and still be suspended so my hip and ribs don't touch.

Any suggestions as to how, I could once again enjoy a good night's sleep in bed with my man?

Thanks!  Vent over.  Now I need to go stretch because I'm stiff as a board.

  • Thanks.  I needed a long, whiney vent today :)

  • Sadly a couple times a week when I can't sleep I find myself on the couch as well. Luckily we have a sectional and I convinced DH to go to the couch with me on Sunday night  LOL. Otherwise I am usually stuck with my 100 lb lap dog as a sleeping partner.
  • I don't have any suggestions, but hope you find something that works. I toss and turn at least 30 times before falling asleep. Hip bones were not made to be slept on, it hurts!

  • ive been a couch sleeper for a couple months now.  i find i am more comfy there than on my bed.  i have been making it a point to make it in bed with dh just so he doesn't feel lonely more often tho.
