Wanting to know the gender, but DH doesn't

We have our big ultrasound on Friday and I really want to find out the gender, but my DH doesn't want to know until the baby is born. Did anyone else have this issue? What did you decide?

Why doesn't he want to know?

I would make these points-

1). everything people buy you will be green or yellow (and yellow doesn't usually look good on babies).

2). everyone will keep pestering you why you don't want to know

3). after you leave the office, they won't be able to tell you (they usualyl don't write it down).

4). It makes it easier for shopping for yourselves as well

My DH did not want to either...I ended up pleading with him to find out for me...because I am the one preg and I needed this little surprise now so could start planning as a way of helping the preg go by faster

He did not want to find out this time either but we are going to. You could have the ultrasound tech write it down, that way if you convince him you can still find out later on. Good luck

DH didn't want to know @ first, but after he went to 1st ultrasound, he changed his tune, now he's as excited as i am to find out the sex.

Friends of mine were in the same situation. So she found out and did not anyone. She wanted to know (for her own bonding with them...twins). So we were all surprised - except her. They were both happy with the arrangement.

i was in the same situation, but eventually i realized how cool it would be to find out at the birth, so we didn't find out.

I originally wanted to know and hubby didnt. NOW my hubby wants to know and i don't -go figure!

So we're going to do the envelope.. the doc puts the gender in the envelop and we can open it on our own time, or not at all. -even though, once you have the envelope it's going to be hard to not to sneak a peek

My DH did not want to find out either. At all. I told him that was fine, but I WAS finding out, come hell or high water. He caved not long after and said that if I was going to know, he wanted to know too. Now he's thrilled that we know it's a girl!

My SIL wanted to know and my BIL didn't - my SIL found out and did tell all of us that it was a boy, we just had to keep it a secret from BIL. He still claims he didn't know my nephew was going to be a boy.

DH also has a cousin who wanted to know but his wife didn't. The cousin found out but the wife didn't. The cousin isn't telling anybody though.

we didn't have this issue, but if we would have I would have told the u/s tech to tell me and have him leave the room. If he doesn't want to know. Then he doesn't have to know. How does that stop you if you want to know?

We didn't find out with pg #1 and it was an awesome surprise! For some reason, I wanted to find out this time, but DH did not. To me, it was all or nothing... there's no way I could know and not be able to tell him! That would be SO hard! So, I decided to wait. I know, in the end, I'll be so happy that I did. It truly is an incredible thing to be completely surprised.
