Baby Names

For those who already have LO's

Do you ever wish you would have picked a different name for your DC? Do you think the name you picked suits you LO well? Just Curious?

Re: For those who already have LO's

  • I was so worried about that when I was pregnant. Kind of like when you get a pet, and then you hear what someone else named their pet and you're like, "Aw, I should have named him that! That's cute!" But, no, I haven't ever felt that way about DS.

  • No.  But we waited until we saw her to make the name "official."  She is totally an Elizabeth Grace/Ellie.  :)
  • This isn't mine, but my aunt and uncle were just telling me the other day how they wish they would have picked a different name for their daughter, Taylor. I felt kind of sorry for her!
    Blank!
  • I still love ds's name!
  • I'm actually still getting used to her name.  I still like it and don't have namer's remorse, but it feels funny sometimes to actually USE it for her.  I still call her "Little One" or "Munchkin" most of the timeEmbarrassed  (I think I would have this problem with any name, though.)
  • No.  I still think it's beautiful and definitely fits her and we get lots of compliments on it from ppl.  I am only worried about finding something equally beautiful for #2 when we have one.  We waited until we saw her to name her too.
  • Well, his name wasn't my #1 choice...DH blackballed all my favorite names (I wanted Emmet). But, it is a name I love and it its him to a T.

  • I love DD's name (Isabel).  We went in with 2 names (Isabel and Chloe).  She didn't look like a Chloe at all when she was born (to me anyway).  The only thing I do regret about her name is that people automatically call her Isabella...instead of Isabel and I have to correct people ALL the time!  It is an extreme pet peeve of mine, but she totally looks like an Isabel.  To me the name fits her perfectly :)
  • surprisingly her name fits her to a T-and did from the moment i held her.  we didn't know we were having a girl but had decided on the name in like October.   some people weren't sure they would like it (my sister), but our dd is a total Liddy!!   I wouldn't have wanted a different name for her at all.  In fact many that i liked the first time around are no longer on my list for #2.
  • Thanks ladies. So maybe my fear of picking the wrong name is just my anxiety.
  • I absolutely love DS's name and can't imagine him with another name! He is definitely a Jamison. However, I worried while I was pregnant that it wouldn't sound right with our last name. ?I still worry about it. But his name has sentimental meaning and fits him, so no I don't regret it at all!
  • Yes. She looks like a Leah and I know I will not ever find another girl name I love as much as I love the name Leah, so we are screwed if we have another girl!

  • I have namer's and speller's remorse about my DS's name. Sad While I love the name I wish I would have put my foot down and spelled it Caden (DH preferred it with a 'k' - yuck). I also have remorse about not researching the name more. We saw it, we liked it, we used it. I had no idea it was so popular. Another worry is that it is being used more and more for a girl's name. *SIGH*

  • No, I love their names. Because we are going with classic names, they will always be "in". I don't understand how a newborn looks like a certain name. They fit that name because it's their name and not the other way around IMO. I can't imagine not having their names picked out before they are born, but that's just me and fine if you don't.?
  • Nope we picked the perfect name for her.
  • At first I thought I made a bad choice, but then I realized it was just hard for me to actually put the name to the person!!  He is so an Evan now it would be weird to think of him as any other name!

  • Absolutely NOT. I love my little Levi. It just fits him. When we think of the other names we were considering: Cole or Keegan. They totally would not fit him. he is a Levi.
  • I think the names we chose for are kids fit them perfectly. I've never regretted naming them Kylee and Elijah.

  • I've never second-guessed it. It took us a long time to make a final decision on a name, but I think it paid off for us. We were 100% sure.

Really nervous about naming baby #2...want to be just as satisfied :)

  • Actually I was still unsure of DD's name the day I gave it to her. But obviously, within a few days you can't imagine them being anything but!
  • Nope. DD's name fits her perfectly and I can't imagine her w/ any other name! I had a good list of names I loved but DH talked me into Kylie, which I wasn't thrilled with at first. But it's just so her. None of my other names sound right for her now.

  • I LOVE DS's name (Nolan Lawrence) and think it fits him perfectly.  I agree that for the first month, it didn't feel right to call a tiny baby by a real name.  We called him Bubba or Boy-Boy or some form of the two for a while.

I, too, worry about finding a name I love just as much for our second baby.  It's fun deciding, though.  :)

  • My daughter is a Caroline and while I still love the name, I don't think she looks like a Caroline at all. She looks like a Megan or a Devin. But I mean, how do you determine something like that before the child is born?
  • We had a hard time picking her name.  We decided last minute even though it was always on the list.  After 14 months I can see calling her anything else.
  • I think she looks like a Sophie, but not really a Sophia. I was worried about this while I was pregnant too because there were no other girl names we even considered. Sophie was it. We named her Sophia for her to have a more "formal" name, but I doubt I'll ever call her Sophia. She's my SOPHIE!
