I took in West Bloomfield, IMO it wasn't really worth it. We did the weekend class and I didn't learn anything I didn't know. However if you are planning or thinking about breastfeeding that class was so worth it.
If you are planning to have a natural childbirth, they are not worth the money. Not even a tiny bit. They WILL teach you how to be a good patient and what protocols to expect, and when you can get your epidural. So...if you ARE planning to get the epidural when you get there, they are actually probably all you need. Other than that, they're not worth much. I would be happy to recommend several out of hospital classes if you are looking for more than they are going to offer you!
We took the class about 5 years ago, it was at a church in Troy. It wasn't very helpful for me, but I think it made my husband a little more comfortable, and to know what was going to happen. Ours was 4 weeks long, one night a week. Way too long in my opinion to cover what we learned.
October 16th. We would be in the same class unless I try to do the august class. Are you doing sept or august? I would love to know others in the class!
When I had DD, I took the class at Troy Beaumont, and I had a really good experience. My best friend took the one in Birmingham and didn't get too much out of it. For us, it was a good experience for DH, because he didn't have as much prior knowledge as I did.
Re: Beaumont Childbirth Ed Class??
I am taking one that my doctor recommended. It is run by a nurse at troy beaumont. It is $75 and 4 sessions.
email me if you want the info! We would probably be in the same class.
