1st Trimester

Anyone else taking progesterone?

My dr just gave me progesterone suppositories today due to labs saying too low to O but I got a BFP so she just wants to make sure but the insert says not to take if PG. I called and they said it was fine but did anyone else run into this?

Re: Anyone else taking progesterone?

  • I am! I stop it on Wednesday and cannot wait. I swear it is causing all of my headaches and the extreme bloat I am seeing.  But overall, it gave me that peace of mind that my levels were high enough to carry my baby.  Good luck.

  • Yep, take it.  The DR knows best.

  • Yes.  My doctor even warned me that the label would say "do not use if pregnant" but assured me that this is what they use to increase progesterone levels.   I've been taking them for about 6 weeks now.
  • Yes. It's OK to take it while pregnant. My doctor also warned me the bottle would say that.  I have been taking them since right after BFP.  They helped and my progesterone level is great.
  • yep...it's fine to take.  my dr. warned me about the label as well.
  • I take them as well.  I started 1 week before my BFP right after my IUI procedure.  once I got my BFP - I was told to continue to take them.  I hate the suppositories though.

Don't worry - safe to take.  What are you taking... I am using Crinone gel.

  • Thanks for all the support they didn't warn me ahead of time the label said that but when I called she apologized and said she should've told me. I'm taking prometrim it's a capsule that will dissolve
  • Yes, I have been taking them since 4 weeks.  I'm glad that I am not the only one taking themSmile So far things have been great and hopefully things continue. Good Luck!

  • Ive been using the cream for about 3 months now.  Dr put me on it before i was even pregnant just because my numbers were so low.  I dont know, but maybe you can use the cream instead of suppositories??  I know I would hate it if I had to do suppositories, yuck. GL!

  • Yes, I took progesterone in my first pregnancy.  As others have said, the doctor warned me about the label saying do not take if pregnant.  It worked great for me as my levels were low with the initial bloodwork that I had.  I only had to take it during the first trimester.  I suggest speaking with your doctor if you have concerns.  They may be able to explain more to ease your mind.  Good luck with everything.
  • In my first pregnancy, I took it for the whole first trimester.  I am pregnant again and plan on taking it again for the first 3 months...I had low progesterone and needed to keep my levels up....
