weight questions

Today at the pedi we saw a different doctor and he made a comment about DS weight. This got me thinking and of course stressing. DS lost 7 oz since his last appt 3 weeks ago (he had been throwing up all morning though). He was weighed in his clothes (onsie) and a dry disposible diaper. How much difference do you think his clothes and diaper made? Do breastfed babies slow down in growth? I thought I read that they slow down after 6 months. I'm trying to figure out how much he has gained since his 6 month appointment. He was 17.4 at 6 months (naked) and 18.2 today (with clothes). He is a week past turning 9 months. He nurses like crazy and is finally liking solids. Very very active little boy. Sorry this all ran together... Stupid phone.

Re: weight questions

  • My LOs were both breastfed but grew like weeds! I'm not sure if it's genes because DH is 6'4''. We never had issues with weight gain, however my kids stretched a lot and probably didn't gain weight all around had they been shorter. KWIM? What percentile is he in for height? Is it within reason, and has it been a consistent growth between 6 mo and today? He may have just grown tall but didn't gain a bunch of weight (stretched!) HTH! and don't worry! He's a healthy boy who's getting the best he can get from mom! I wouldn't be too concerned. Maybe call your original pedi and see if they are concerned?

  • Both my children also grew like weeds. If he is that active though, then yes, his weight will slow down dramatically. My ds2 at 9 months, was 23 lbs and at 1 year he was 23.3 lbs. Around 9 months is when he started going, going, going, like a mad man. I say as long as your pedi is not concerned, then I'm sure his weight is fine.
