Update on slow response to estrogen priming protocol

Hey ladies....I posted last Thursday about my first ivf and how I was probably getting cancelled. Several of you took the time to respond and offer words of wisdom and encouragement so I wanted to post a quick update.

I am on day 14 of stims today...I finally have some measurable follies....eight measuring 10 and two measuring 11.  The dr isnt going to cancel me yet. I go back on Wed for another check. He is keeping my meds at 300 of menopur and 300 of bravelle, 5 of lupron.  He did mention that extended stimming could result in lower egg quality so I guess that is something to be concerned about but right now I am feeling hopeful.

Thanks for all of your encouragement last week and if you have a similar story that was successful I would love to hear it. TIA. Smile

  • I am glad to hear that your cycle wasn't cancelled.  I have to say the IVF where I stimmed the longest, I had the least amount of eggs fertilize, but it is the one where we got our BFP.  We transferred 4 and 3 took and we lost one at 8 weeks.  Hang in there:)

I am surprised though he is keeping you on lupron.  It seems completely strange to me.  We didn't do any lupron at all for our EPP because it surpresses you.

  • Hey there!  Yay for them coming along!  I have to say, my first two I only stimmed for 9 days and only had 4 mature eggs and both BFN's.  For #3, I stimmed for 16 days and ended up with 7 mature eggs and a BFP.  Hopefully the longer stimming works for you, too.  Good luck!

  • -butting in- I think the lupron at this point is overkill. I just had a 2nd opinion appt to rev my chem preg cycle and was told "no wonder you had so many immature, you were on 40 IU OF LUPRON for 10 DAYS".  I know 5 is no where near that but with women with response issues/elevated fsh/ama whatever the issue may be, we cannot be in danger of being oversuppressed. GL though and I will be following your progress on TTTC!
  • Thanks so much for the encouragement & sharing your success stories!  I asked several times today if I should stay on the lupron and the nurse kept telling me the dr said yes. I am so tempted to reduce it by half or something like that...but who am I kidding...I am not a dr. I really hope this guy knows what he is doing!
