Dallas-Fort Worth Babies

Hello DFW Mommmies

I was hoping you could give me some input. ?DH and I have decided to make the move from Souther CA to DFW. ?We have been looking online and think we have it narrowed down to Southlake. ?Can you give me any feedback on Southlake? ?good or bad. ?Or any other area's that we should consider. ?We're looking for newer houses, good schools, and a community with lots of young families. ?Thanks for any help.

Re: Hello DFW Mommmies

  • Hello!  I have not lived in Southlake, but we have lived in Grapevine, very close to the Southlake boarder.  Southlake has awesome scools, new homes, and great ammenities.  Pretty much everything is new.  However, Southlake = expensive ... well, as far as DFW is 'expensive'.  If you're coming from Southern CA you'll be fine and it will probably seem like a bargain  :)

The only thing I personally would worry about with living in Southlake and with the Southlake school systems is the lack of diversity.  You're talking 90% + of the population is white rich, upper middle to high economic status.  There are obviously pluses and minuses that come with that.  You might also want to check out/consider Grapevine and Colleyville for higher end areas in the same general location.

    Good Luck!

  • If you can afford it, you can't go wrong with that area!!
  • I don't know much about that area other than it is really nice and pricey (like Totty said 'dfw pricey'!) ?You have a beautiful family!!

  • I lived in Southlake before we moved to Colleyville (where we live now) and we love it and almost prefer this area to southlake. There are so many amenities in this area and so does southlake but they are older money so not a lot of young families there. If you want to further talk or have questions don't hesitate to e-mail me ay mrskwithers at live dot com. I can go into some details of nice homes in this general area
  • I'm not sure where you'll be working, but you may want to consider getting as close to work as possible. I live in Northwest Dallas (almost to Plano and Richardson) and we love it. It is in the Richardson school district and has some of the best schools in the area.

  • Thanks ladies for your help. ?I will definitely research Colleyville. ?I don't work, and my H works from home when he's not traveling so we can fortunately live anywhere. ?My H just talked to his boss and he's ok with the move, so I think it's a pretty sure thing. ?It will definitely be a big transition for me since I've never lived anywhere besides CA and my whole family is here, but Im very excited. ?You all seem very nice and so maybe I'll pop in here and there :)

Jessibell and MrsDonkey I just wanted to say that I remember both of you from the TTC board. ??

  • Hi! I knew I recognized your name :) And I remember your beautiful daughter! Your son is sooo cute and so big now.

    Time flies!

  • Yeah it does. ?I think the last time I was on there you were just coming out of first trimester. ?I can't believe your baby is 1, that is just crazy. ?She is so beautiful.
