Snarky and T-TTC

xp: Went to the ER (pg ment'd)

Passed a giant red clot out of nowhere.  Mw said to get checked out.  Went to the ER.  Long story short (details are in blog), they don't know I was bleeding, there is no sign of active bleeding, baby looked fine.  Measured 8w3d, which is exactly where it should be based on the last u/s (measured 6w even, 2 weeks and 3 days ago), heart rate was a 'terrific' 182 bpm.  Said things looked good, but they couldn't promise anything, given my previous history (but those were all missed m/c's, not spontaneous abortions of apparently healthy babies).  Rest a lot, elevate my feet, but should be fine.

Utterly terrifying, but good to know baby is still growing, and hopefully we'll be out of this interminably long first tri soon.  I'll just be happy to finally be past 9 weeks (which I'd hoped was today, but I guess not after all, technically).

  • oh no!  how scary.  i just read the details in your blog.  i'm really glad everything is ok.  i know it's hard to not have answers for something like that.  did they tell you where the placenta was placed?

  • UGH!!! That sucks!!!

That happened to me right around 11 weeks....

(Personal question..... had sex in the last 48 or so hours.....?)

SIL had this happen to her as well, basically they think that sex "hurts" the cervix and it creates a blood blister that breaks later naturally.

Get some rest and try to relax (it's tough). GL!

  • They didn't say anything about the position of the placenta, other than it looked fine.  And nope, no sex.  Just completely out of the blue.  A nurse mentioned it might have been the placenta aggressively attaching to the wall of the uterus creating some bleeding that simply clotted and just worked its way out, but there is no way to know.  Didn't see any signs of further bleeding, but I'm still really ready to just be done with first tri.

  • I'm glad you and baby are okay.  That must've been so scary.  That's wonderful you got to see the baby and that it's measuring right on track and looking good.  I hope these next few weeks fly by and you don't have any more scares.  *Hugs*

  • Glad everything is OK and the next 4 weeks move fast and uneventful.
  • I had a huge clot appear early and talked to a nurse at work about it.  She said she was very sorry, but it sounded like a miscarriage.

Sure enough, the next doc appointment showed otherwise and the betas were doubling.

The docs couldn't explain what I saw, and since then have been put on restrictions.  But so far so good.

    Good luck
