Em turns 1 on Wednesday and we had her birthday party over Memorial Day weekend. So I want to just celebrate her actual b-day because I want it to be special for her. Any ideas?
DD and I spent the day just doing all the things she loves. I gave her my full attention all day and didn't do any housework or errands. I made her pancakes for breakfast, we went to the Children's museum and just hung out and played the rest of the day. For dinner we had her favorite, homemade mac and cheese and then she got a cupcake with a candle in it and we sang to her. (Her big party was 5 days after her real birthday.) It was really fun! Have fun with your DD!!
I took a half day out of work, we went to Brown University to do a language study thing, then out to eat with my mom. Then we played the rest of the afternoon together and met up with my parents at Friendly's for dinner and her first taste of ice cream! It was fun and we have LOTS of pictures to show for it
We live in New England so DH and I both took the day off from work and took DD to see the Mayflower, Plymouth Plantation, and then went out for dinner.

We had a small get together at home with just my parents and my grandma. We had dinner and I picked up some cupcakes. It was very low key but I really wanted to celebrate on his actual birthday.
DH took the day off and we took her to the zoo for the first time, then to the local creamy whip, where she got her very first baby cone. Then we went home and after dinner we gave her a couple little presents we had saved for her from us and she had some leftover birthday cake. It was a fun day for all of us.
DH took the day off and we went to the aquarium and rode the subway for the first time. We walked around Boston and ate at our favorite restaurant. We had a few neighbors over and had cake. It was such an awesome day!
Absolutely! We went to a petting zoo, went out for dinner at the 99 and had them sing happy bday to her, and generally made the day all about her. DH even took the day off of work. It was a very special day. Took lots of pictures and had a lovely family day, just the three of us.

I made him sweet potato pancakes for dinner and let him have a spoonful of ice cream for dessert.
It then took him 1.5 hours to go to sleep that night, so I think it was a little too much sugar.
