Parenting after a Loss

FVCK! I just broke my pump!

and I have no idea where to find the replacement parts needed other than online.  all I need is the freaking $1.25 valve!   no one sells lansinoh/APY parts in the stores.  sigh.

I am crying as I write this... I had no desire to switch to formula yet... and the fastest that Fed-Ex can get the part to me is Tuesday.  which means only manual, one sided pumping the rest of this weekend.  If I can't find the needed parts... I will probably call out of work.  seriously can not do manual pumping in the short amount of time my prep/lunch gives me.

double sigh.

  • Call Lansinoh/Ameda and see if they know somewhere that sells it locally.. There are a couple of lactation centers here and they say they carry replacement parts for all major brands.. (although the one i go to I have only seen Medela and Hygeia parts and some other "off-brand" ones, but maybe they fit other brands?)

  • ooohhh.. going to do that now.  thanks for the suggestion.
  • Try calling the hospital where you delivered. I know ours has a lactation dept and they sell supplies.

  • If you can't get the part right away, can you go rent a pump? I know several hospitals in my area rent pumps. Hope you find something. I couldn't manual pump either.
  • I have a place that I have bought all of my Ameda parts online.  They can usually get them shipped pretty quickly, but it does take time.  I love my pump, but I wish there were stores locally that sold the parts instead of me having to get them shipped every time.  I ordered a bunch of extra stuff when I went back to work so I had lots of extra parts.

I'm sorry that you'll have to manually pump all weekend.  Do you have any freezer stash?

  • That SUCKS. I'm sorry. :-(
  • Give us an update when you find something out!
  • Can you borrow a pump from someone? ?That's what I did when my power cord had a short...

  • I just realized, you're close enough to me, if you want to borrow the pump I have at home for a few days you can. ?It belongs to a friend.

  • thanks girls!  APY and Lansinoh only have customer service hours on the weekend.  oh the joy.  all the local stores only sell Medela parts.  wtf!

Dh *thinks* he can fix it to the point where I can use it one side at a time until the part comes in.  This will be better than the dreaded hand pump. I am SOOO ordering a couple of the pieces we need.

Ladybug offered her pump to me also, and if dh can't fix mine, I am going to hunt her down and borrow hers.

Dr. G.. thanks so much for the offer!  I really appreciate it.

  • it didn't come with extra valves? mine did.
