Breastfeeding

If you pump in place of a feeding..

How much do you get? I just got 2 ounces out of both breasts combined after pumping for almost 45 minutes. Just a few days ago I was able to at least get 4. I'm just finishing up with AF, could it be that? Or maybe it could be stress? Either way, I'm upset. All I do it worry about Bfing!! Is she getting enough, am I making enough.. its exhausting!

I posted this on 0-6 as well. I need all the answers I get get! Tia.

Re: If you pump in place of a feeding..

  • Not that I'm a super expert at this, but I read in my pumps directions that you should pump at your most relaxed, feet up with a glass of water...and also try to pump at the same time each day, when your breasts are the most filled...I've noticed that I have a particular time of day when that is...

I worry the same thing all the time, my dr. told me that if the baby is not getting enough, then they will be "rooting" all the time, and no wet diapers...if you are getting those, then I would talk to the baby's dr. about what to do next...

    Hope that helps!!! :)

  • Just remember that your baby is a way more efficient sucker than your pump.  Sometimes your AF does affect your supply.  If she's having wet/poopy diapers and is gaining weight good, you should be fine.

I find that if I'm pumping, I can get more in the morning and the amount dwindles as I get towards the end of the day.

  • AF seriously messes with my supply, I get 3 when I would normally get 6, 0 when I would normally get 3, etc. It could definitely be AF!
  • I am having the same issue, but what is AF?  I have tried to pump after a feeding and get just .5 oz.
