Re: Fri "Geting to Know Yous" (got the day right this time)
1) What is the best thing that happened to you this week?
I was able to be the "adult" in a conversation with my SS. While I would have rather sent him to his room for the rest of the day, I was able to provide concrete consequences to his actions vs a blanket punishment.
While I do not think he learned from this, at least I can hold my head up knowing I tried to do what was best, not what was expedient.
2) If you could eliminate one thing from your bathroom routine (never to have to do it again), what would it be?
SHAVING
3) If you were to get a(nother) tattoo, what would it be and where would you place it?
A daisy on the top of my left foot at the very left edge.
4) Name a major life experience that made you who you are today?
When I was in college, I took Accutane for my cystic acne. Back then, they did not truly understand the psychological responses to this RX. I ended up with a bout of clinical depression that went undiagnosed for 2 years (my life was stress free and I had a great past).
By the time I was diagnosed and came out of it (thank you Charlotte, my therapist and Effexor) I was a stronger and more confident person. In fact, before depression, I was introverted and could not make friends. Now I am very outgoing and have a wonderful set of friendships.1) What is the best thing that happened to you this week? Since DH is finally home from deployment, I've been enjoying the simple things this week, like having family dinners together and watching movies. Just regular everyday stuff that I've missed out with him for the last 6 months. And we went house hunting, that was great!
2) If you could eliminate one thing from your bathroom routine (never to have to do it again), what would it be? Fixing my hair! Can't I just wake up and it be ready to go!
3) If you were to get a(nother) tattoo, what would it be and where would you place it? Well this one has already been on my mind. I want to get a half sleeve and am debating what to put on it, right now some flowers and asian designs (not characters!) are looking good to me.

Shaving...without a doubt!
3) If you were to get a(nother) tattoo, what would it be and where would you place it?
I don't have any but if I just had to get one I would put Kiss and My on my left and right butt cheeks! LOL
4) Name a major life experience that made you who you are today?
I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis right before my wedding last year. I thought it was a death sentence at first but I have learned that sickness...is a state of mind. I asked for a long time God...why me - but now I ask why NOT me? I look at everyone differently because I think each and every single one of us has a battle of some sort that we are fighting on a daily basis. God is good and he will never put more on us than we can bear.
1) What is the best thing that happened to you this week? I just found out today that the wether should be beautiful for the wedding! We have been so worried about it for months!
2) If you could eliminate one thing from your bathroom routine (never to have to do it again), what would it be? Shaving - as in my legs & pits magically never grew hair.
3) If you were to get a(nother) tattoo, what would it be and where would you place it? I would really like to put one on my side, from about mid-boob down to my hip, but I'm not sure what, and I know it would hurt & cost a lot.
4) Name a major life experience that made you who you are today? I've been through a lot of "major experiences" since I was 2. I would have to say everything.
1) What is the best thing that happened to you this week?
Visited France, got engaged, actually it has been the best week of my life. SO and I are so crazy in love right now it is insane. Now i'm off to the spa for a girls weekend - does it get any better?

3) If you were to get a(nother) tattoo, what would it be and where would you place it? Mmme something spiritual on my foot/ankle.
4) Name a major life experience that made you who you are today?
Well I wont go into the details but I was abused by my uncle as a child (for 6 years), my family found out when I was 10 and pretty much rejected me for it. My mother never showed me an ounce of compassion and carried on a relationship with him. Rejection is a huge fear of mine to this day and has caused me huge problems in my life. BUT I am an extremely independent person unlike the women in my family. Also I took him to court myself when I was 17 and he went to prison - I walked into the court room alone but my aunts and uncles came to support him. Anyhow I guess you could say that it has made me who I am; also I feel that growing up removed from my mother?s family was a positive thing as they are bitter/hateful people.
1) What is the best thing that happened to you this week? Well despite my DD getting sick(vomitting), and my son's croup, lack of sleep, fighting with my DH who had that nasty rash, etc... I managed to hit my numbers at work which means more commission. It's a good thing because the twins birthday is next Sat (13th).
2) If you could eliminate one thing from your bathroom routine (never to have to do it again), what would it be? Flossing. Ick!
3) If you were to get a(nother) tattoo, what would it be and where would you place it? I would have have a Gemini sign (my twins are born under Gemini)
4) Name a major life experience that made you who you are today? There are so many - I can't think of a specific one right now.
1) What is the best thing that happened to you this week? Having a half hour conversation with my mom about all the crap going thru my head. All I needed was an ear to listen and she was the one.
2) If you could eliminate one thing from your bathroom routine (never to have to do it again), what would it be? As far as cleaning it, that would be cleaning the tub, as far as washing up, that would be shaving. If I could just shave once, and not have to do it again and have my legs be hairless, that would be awesome
3) If you were to get a(nother) tattoo, what would it be and where would you place it? I already have 2, one on my ankle and one on my shoulder blade. I do want another, but im not sure where yet, but it's going to be a sun with my next child's name over it with his/her's b-day under it.
4) Name a major life experience that made you who you are today? Having DD. If I hadn't had her, who knows where i would be or how i would be. Having her at such a young age definitly calmed me down and made me "grow up"

1) What is the best thing that happened to you this week? I have yet to kill anyone. So things are looking good. (PMS is evil)
2) If you could eliminate one thing from your bathroom routine (never to have to do it again), what would it be? Shaving. Gawd, I hate doing that.
3) If you were to get a(nother) tattoo, what would it be and where would you place it? I have always wanted a Celtic Love knot, but I don't know where I would get it. Maybe on the side of my rib cage-owie.
4) Name a major life experience that made you who you are today? Meeting my H. Does that count? I would say that he has made me a more stable person.
1) What is the best thing that happened to you this week?
I finally sold the house I owned before DH and I moved into "our" house! We've been making double payments since Oct and with DH not working the relief couldn't have come at a better time!
2) If you could eliminate one thing from your bathroom routine (never to have to do it again), what would it be?
Definitely shaving!
3) If you were to get a(nother) tattoo, what would it be and where would you place it?
I have been thinking about this for over a year. I would like to get one either on the top of my foot or on the front part of my hip (if that makes sense). Just not sure what I want to get yet...
4) Name a major life experience that made you who you are today?
My first marriage taught me a lot about who I am and what is and isn't acceptable to me. Getting through it, and my divorce and being able to make a life on my own for DD and I really changed the way I looked at myself.
1. A dealer was in our offices this week and we had a quick meeting because she wanted to tell us our company was the best in the industry, she thanks us for all we do, that she thinks of us as family and that she wants to move to Iowa because she loves the people here. She lives in NYC.
2. Can I not have to floss? I hate flossing, but somehow still do it religiously. And it sucks.
3. Don't have a tattoo and won't ever get one. My husband however wants to figure out a way to add our baby to his arm where he already has his four kids listed. It will be tricky, but that's what we are going to do - add to my husband's tattoo.
4. Just growing up on a farm, with a tight knit, rock solid family with morals and discipline. Being from the that kind of consistency in that family, in that small, close, stable community....it's the core of who I am and I feel so fortunate and proud to come from that. I will fight like hell to give my child that.

3) If you were to get a(nother) tattoo, what would it be and where would you place it? A really small one where it can't be seen (think bikini area) of, I dunno, a claddagh (maybe with DH's initials inside), a flower/heart/fairy or something frilly.
4) Name a major life experience that made you who you are today? Being homeless, pregnant, with three kids and a disabled spouse.

1) What is the best thing that happened to you this week?
I got some extra hours at my second job, which was good because my first job cut my hours. I ended up working at the job I like better, making twice as much money!
2) If you could eliminate one thing from your bathroom routine (never to have to do it again), what would it be?
Shaving for sure. Although, I don't really shave except in the summer. I didn't realize how bad it was until I got into bed after shaving my legs last week and my DH kept touching my legs...I told him to screw off, and he just said, "Sorry hun, it's been a long, cold winter". We ended up laughing like little kids for like 10 minutes over it.
3) If you were to get a(nother) tattoo, what would it be and where would you place it?
I'm getting 2 tattoos. I'm getting the constellation of Pisces on my right shoulder blade. On the tops of my feet I am getting the Mesopotamian proverb that is in my signature, on one foot in English, and on the other in Cuneiform.
4) Name a major life experience that made you who you are today?
Having my daughter. I was 17 when I got pregnant, and after I had her I told myself that I was going to change my life for the better. I read a statistic that said only 2% of women who have children before 18 graduated from post-secondary school by the time they were 30...so that became my goal and I did it!
1) What is the best thing that happened to you this week?
It was my birthday week. Yep, I'm claiming a whole week. It was Monday, and I got more presents tonight from ILs.
2) If you could eliminate one thing from your bathroom routine (never to have to do it again), what would it be?
Um, elimination? I'm surprised no one else said this. I'd love it if I never ever had to go pee again.
3) If you were to get a(nother) tattoo, what would it be and where would you place it?
No ink for me.
4) Name a major life experience that made you who you are today?
The biggest one on my mind today is falling in love with a wonderful man who is simple and complicated and needy and giving and who makes me understand what it takes to love someone full of faults by being my example.
1) What is the best thing that happened to you this week?
The book I ordered for learning tips on helping DD#1 (Aspergers) finally arrived. Ex is pretending there isn't anything "wrong" with her and I'm happy to have some ideas and explanations on a diagnosis it took a while to get!
2) If you could eliminate one thing from your bathroom routine (never to have to do it again), what would it be?
Cleaning up hair. I shed like a dog. It sucks.
3) If you were to get a(nother) tattoo, what would it be and where would you place it?
Over my right shoulder...my initials at birth which are also my late grandpa's initials. He died when my mom was 13 and a psychic once told my sister that he stands behind us on our right side.
4) Name a major life experience that made you who you are today?
A good friend was injured in a snowmobing accident almost 10 years ago. He wasn't wearing a helmet and suffered severe head injuries. He is wheelchair bound, cannot live on his own and will be dependent on his parents for the rest of his life. For 5 years after his accident, I did home care with him, only stopping because I had DS and the distance was too much to travel (but I do stay in contact with them). In that time, I learned that life can change in an instant and that NOTHING is guaranteed. I can only hope to have people like my friend's parents in my life. For 10 years they have suffered the ups and downs and have stuck it out together with their son. Unless you knew them, you'd never know they had bad days...they're grateful their son is here, no matter his condition right now. In addition to that battle, the mom was not only diagnosed with breast cancer, she beat it. They are big in their faith and always believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Just all-around great people who are my constant reminder that it can all change in an instant and you can't take the good stuff for granted.
DD#1~8/17/96------DS~10/24/05
I'm always so late to these...
1) What is the best thing that happened to you this week? My H took some time off & he spent a lot of it with DS, so that I could putt around the yard, do things in the house, go to a movie, and shop a little bit.
2) If you could eliminate one thing from your bathroom routine (never to have to do it again), what would it be? Shaving my legs!
3) If you were to get a(nother) tattoo, what would it be and where would you place it? I won't get another; I have two- one symbolizes my three boys (H, SS, DS) & the other was a classic stupid first tattoo- butterfly on my hip (how original!) that I reaaaaallllly want removed.
4) Name a major life experience that made you who you are today? What's changed me the most was becoming a SM... it definitely made me put things in to perspective that I think we all feel when he become parents of some sort:suddenly there was someone that I cared for WAY more than myself, that I wanted to protect, and stand up for, and love and take care of. It's a blessing that I was able to learn how to parent with a SS who tended to be just as accepting as me as I could ever hope for, regardless of the few adults that presented efforts to kink my and his relationship- he made me the mom I am today. (And I am glad he did... I might've been a nightmare otherwise; my DS is going to have to thank SS when he's older, ha ha!)
