How did you tell everyone at work?

I'm not that close with my co-workers, I feel its time to announce to the world that yes I am pregnant before they begin drawing their own conclusions. (I did go ahead and tell my supervisor). I'm considering an email, posting on our announcements board or inviting people out to lunch to share the news but for some reason I'm just so shy about it and I don't want to make too big of a deal since it is work and all. Advice? Stories?

i say if you feel uncomfortable making a big deal about it, dont. just slip it into a conversation ( oooh i bought the baby the cutest sweater etc.) then when they say WHAT your pregnant, say ohh i just figured you knew. word will get around quick.

Do you have one co-worker that you like to talk to on a regular basis. I'm sure if you tell that one person and let them know it's not a secret word will get around quickly. Good luck!

I'm a teacher and we are close in my school. We are pre-k to 5th grade. I told my principal first. Later that day I told my team - my grade level - at our team meeting and then told my lunch (because there are two lunch periods) during lunch. The rest spread through the school like a wild fire.

Do what feels comfortable for you. I was excited to tell my co-workers and finally share the news with them.

I guess it depends on the number of people at work. Do you know someone who is the office gossip? Probably start with him/her and that way, there are less people to announce it to. Wink

My company is super small (6 people including me) and we know everything about our families (including financial info LOL!) Two of my coworkers found out really early, around 8 wks, b/c I was sick. She flat out asked me if I was pg and I wasn't going to deny it so I just said "Yeah". I told my boss over the telephone b/c it was the day I had my u/s and DH and I were so excited we decided to play hookie. I just called her up and said something like "yeah, I won't be in because I'm pregnant!" LOL

honestly, i told the two people who gossip the most, and they pretty much told everyone else for me lol. seriously this is what i did.

If you're not that close with them, I dont think you should go out of your way to tell them. As long as your management knows, you're okay.

Besides, what other 'conclusion' are they going to draw? if you're getting a baby belly, you're probably pregnant. Unless they think you're smuggling large round fruit in and out of the business. hehe

We have a communication book at work. We have people due in Sept, Oct, Nov and I am Dec. The others all wrote in the book that they were pg with big messages including the due date. About 3 weeks before I planning on telling everyone we found out about the Oct baby so everyone was talking about who would be due in Dec. When I finally told I just wrote "I'm December" and signed my name - everyone knew what it meant.

I work for a pretty large company and am not in the office that much, so it's been a challenge for me to tell my co-workers as well as all the providers I work with. So after I told my boss, I just tried to slip it into conversation. If people asked me how I was, I would say, "Oh, I'm pretty tired. But I guess that's normal when you're pregnant." Or I would talk about it fairly loudly and openly with a co-worker I'm close with and figure some people would overhear. If you aren't close to some of them, it's not necessary to let them know. I can't wait until I'm popping out so it's pretty obvious!
