Going in for Cranium Scan today at CHOA

Today we find out if little Aerin will need a helmet.  I'm also hoping the insurance will cover this.

Has anyone had experience with the insurance companies and covering the helmets?

Aerin's head is flat, ear has moved forward slightly and her forehead is protruding a little bit.

  • I haven't had any experience with that, but I wanted to tell you good luck!  I hope everything comes back okay and you are able to get it covered by your insurance.

  • Good luck! I hope the results come back negative and they don't have to do anything invasive.

  • Good Luck today! I hope that a helmet will not be needed and if it is, the insurance will cover it
  • We are fighting with insurance about it and have been for 2 months! Now, she's almost 11 months old and should be almost out of the helmet - very frustrating. I hope that you don't need one, but that if you do you don't encounter this issue with your insurance. I have Kaiser and was told they normally aren't this hard to work with - wondering if it has anything to do with the economy. So, at this point, we don't know if we will get the helmet or not.

    Good luck!!!!

  • Good luck today!  Amiri had minor torticollis and his head was slightly flat with the possiblity of it getting worse.  With Physical Therapy and exersises at home I prevented it from getting worse and within 2 weeks his head rounded out getting him out of that borderline of needing a helmet.  All things are possible!!  Hoping that it goes well for you!!
