Shoe recommendation?

DD is a shoe hater, always has been.  She has had several pairs of shoes since birth and the only ones she actually wore were her sock like slippers.  Now she is walking and while she will walk on ANYTHING, I am starting to have issues with the dirt and germs (sadly enough, I don't care if she walks in the mulch at the playground in bare feet but the thought of the grocery store in bare feet makes me want to throw up a little).  So what shoes do you recommend for my chunky footed little shoe thrower?

Re: Shoe recommendation?

  • I hear you about the dirt vs. germs issue - for some reason outside dirt doesn't bother me as much as inside germs!

DD has fat (wide?) feet and I've had the best luck with Stride Rites, Baby Gap, and regular sneakers (Adidas, Saucony, New Balance, you name it).

  • DS wears Stride Rite sandals right now.  They're great for his wide feet.  He had to get a double wide shoe in the style he's wearing!  The other thing I like about them was when we got them, the salesperson was really aware about how they fit.  He tried on a different pair and she didn't like how they fit the width of his foot.

I felt like she was concerned with his foot development and wouldn't just sell me the shoe for a profit.

  • The shoes that seem to have the best fit and most comfort for my dd was stride rite. We bought the popsicle and lollipop sandals so far and they are perfect.

  • I've got a chunker too. See Kai Run has worked for us.
  • I also recommend Stride Rite.
  • I have had NO luck with Stride Rites.  Got a pair as a gift and they're so stiff DD is miserable in them.  Found a pair on clearance and they're falling apart.  Don't pay over $15 for a pair of these.

What's better?  Pedipeds, See Kai Run, Jack and Lily.  LOVE LOVE LOVE.  Worth $50.   Or more.  Much more flexible and they last much longer.

But for your issues?  I think the answer might be Robeez slippers or the Jack and Lily slippers.  They won't be great for the playground, but great for the grocery store.  DD STILL cant peel off her slippers like this by herself.  As for walking, I'd say these are next best thing to barefoot.
