as of yesterday, June 3!
I went in for my weekly dr appt on Wednesday morning. I had BH for the past few weeks and wicked insomnia for the past couple of days. Last week's visit, I was dilated to 2cm and with the worry of the baby's pelviectasis looming above me, I was all set to beg my OB to induce me early, like on June 10th.
Well, while he's checking me out and talking induction dates, he asks me how I'm currently feeling. I said, "I feel like a hand puppet but other than that, I feel fine, why?" He laughed, shook his head and said, "what's wrong with you? You're silly! Just get dressed and come on out."
When I went into his office, he said that I was dilated to just over 6cm and that I had a pretty good sized contraction when he was checking me (which didn't feel anything more than a menstrual cramp to me). Then he said that I should probably just walk over to the hospital because the baby was coming soon. "Like REAL soon!"
I freaked out. We didn't have the infant car seat installed, no hospital bag ready, nothing. Nada. Plus, DH was off running errands so I had to drive and pick him up!
After shifting stuff around and getting Cameron over to my mom's, I was admitted at noon. Epidural in at 1:30pm. Felt no pain at 1:45pm. Napped from 2pm-4:30pm. Woke up at 4:30pm with that dreaded feeling of wanting to bear down and poop. A LOT! Starting practice pushing around 5pm because the baby's head was still at 0 station. At 5:40, the doctor came in and we got the show on the road.
5:56pm. Oliver Nathaniel was born. 7lbs, 14oz, 20inches.
And yep, I'm one of those crazy people that hate to spend more time in the hospital than they need to. So, I was admitted, labored, delivered and discharged in less than 24hrs. Luckily, I didn't tear and the baby is healthy.
Thanks for all your advice and support through this pregnancy. I don't know what I would have done without you.
ps:I had posted that "baby's estimated weight v real weight" a couple days ago and I'm SOOO relieved that the estimated weight was wayyy over what he ended up being. Big difference between a 9lb baby and an almost 8lb'er.
